I was so excited to find out that a new PC game, clearly inspired by that awesome Xbox game from 2003, is free on Steam right now! But the deal ends around November 11th, so you’ve only got about 24 hours to grab it. I’m a Steam Deck user, and I’m hoping it works, but Valve hasn’t said if it’s compatible yet. They just list it as ‘Unknown,’ which is a little frustrating. Hopefully, it runs well, but we’ll have to wait and see!
You can download Will Glow the Wisp for free on Steam. It’s a simple but challenging game inspired by classics like Geometry Wars and Super Meat Boy. If you’ve been missing the fast-paced action of Geometry Wars – which hasn’t had a new release since 2016 – this is a great way to get your fix.
About the Game
Will Glow the Wisp is a game where you explore colorful, dreamlike mazes set to relaxing electronic music. It’s a simple experience focused entirely on gameplay – a style of game that isn’t common anymore. You can compete with other players on leaderboards to try and achieve the best possible score.
Okay, so I’ve been checking out this new free game on Steam, and honestly, it’s not super polished or packed with features. But if you’re into this kind of game, it’s actually pretty fun! It’s sitting at an 84% approval rating, which is surprisingly good. You might think a free game gets a lot of fake positive reviews, but it’s the opposite. Because it’s free, tons of people try it, and only those who really enjoy it bother to leave a positive review. It’s actually why games on Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus tend to have lower review scores – when you pay for a game, you’re already way more invested and likely to stick with it even if it’s not perfect.
I saw a couple of reviews that really sold me on this game. One person said it’s super fun but doesn’t bother with a lot of fancy graphics – they even got all the achievements in just an hour! Another reviewer agreed, saying it’s really enjoyable, simple to pick up, and just has a smooth, entertaining feel with great gameplay and a really positive vibe.
If you’re not interested in the new free game on Steam, don’t worry – there are other options! A free PC game based on a well-known Xbox franchise was also just launched.
