Video games can be costly these days, and it’s tough to choose wisely when money is tight. Reading reviews from critics and other players is a good start, but the best way to know if you’ll enjoy a game is to try it yourself. Luckily, free trial offers let you do just that! Currently, PC gamers on Steam and the Epic Games Store have a chance to play one of the greatest survival games ever made – completely free.
Subnautica 2, the sequel everyone’s been waiting for, is launching into Early Access in May! Before the new game arrives, the creators at Unknown Worlds are celebrating the original Subnautica by making it free to play on Steam and the Epic Games Store from April 2nd to April 6th. If you enjoy the experience, you can purchase the game with a significant 75% discount until April 9th on Steam and April 7th on the Epic Games Store.
Subnautica Gets Free Weekend on PC, With Xbox Free Play Days to Follow

Let me introduce you to Subnautica, a truly unique game. It’s an open-world survival adventure that drops you into a vast alien ocean. You’ll explore beautiful coral reefs, winding caves, and the open sea, all while trying to survive against dangerous creatures. The underwater world is both mysterious and incredibly strange!
Released in 2018, Subnautica has consistently received overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam. It’s a popular survival game that combines stunning visuals with intense underwater horror. If you haven’t played it yet, it’s definitely worth trying! And good news: you can play Subnautica on PC for free until April 6th. After the free weekend, the full game will be available for purchase at a discounted price of $7.49 if you want to continue playing.

This weekend’s free access to the game is just a taste of what’s to come! Shortly after, Subnautica will be available as part of Xbox Free Play Days from April 9th to 12th, letting Xbox players try it out for free. We don’t have all the details yet – we’re not sure if you’ll need an Xbox Game Pass subscription or if it will be free for everyone. But if you play on Xbox or PC Game Pass, keep an eye out for another chance to play Subnautica free later this month!
You can play Subnautica on PC, PlayStation (4 & 5), Xbox (One & Series X|S), Nintendo Switch, and even mobile devices. With the sequel, Subnautica 2, launching in Early Access next month, it’s the perfect time to check out the first game and see what all the excitement is about – and it’s available to try for free!
