Percy Jackson Season 3 Confirms Major New Additions to Cast, Including a Favorite From The Flash

Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians is proving to be very popular, and production is now starting on a third season. Season two premiered on December 19th and concludes on January 21st. Following the books by Rick Riordan, the first season covered The Lightning Thief, while season two adapted The Sea of Monsters. The upcoming third season will be based on the third novel, The Titan’s Curse. Disney+ has already renewed the series for a third season, planned for release in 2025, and they are currently looking for actors to join the cast.

As reported by Deadline, three major actors have joined the cast for the upcoming third season. Holt McCallany (Mindhunter) will play Titan Atlas, a powerful antagonist. Atlas was previously condemned to hold up the heavens as punishment for fighting against the Olympian gods, and now seeks revenge by aligning with Kronos and commanding his forces. He’s set to be the central villain of Season 3, appearing in six episodes.

David Costabile will be joining the cast as Dr. Thorn, the strict headmaster of a military academy who expects his students to follow orders without question. He’s a significant character in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and his real role is a major surprise. You might recognize Costabile from his roles as Gale Boetticher in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, or as Thomas Klebanow in The Wire.

Jesse L. Martin, known for his role as Joe West in The Flash, will be joining Season 3 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. He’ll play Frederick Chase, Annabeth’s father, who is a highly intelligent military historian. The new season will explore the reconnection between Annabeth and her dad.

What to Expect from Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3

In the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Percy and Annabeth embark on a mission to find their friend Grover and also to heal Thalia’s tree, which was poisoned. These events set the stage for the third book and season, The Titan’s Curse. As the villain Kronos tries to regain power, a prophecy foretells that a demigod will either save or destroy Olympus. The season finale of Sea of Monsters adds a twist to this prophecy, directly leading into the story of The Titan’s Curse.

In the third season, Percy, Annabeth, Thalia, and Grover attempt to rescue fellow half-bloods, but their mission takes a dangerous turn when Artemis and Annabeth are captured by Luke’s forces. This sets Percy, Grover, and Thalia on a quest to find and save them, ultimately revealing Atlas’s scheme to challenge the gods and revive Kronos.

The cast is growing with the addition of Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie, who will play Nico and Bianca, two new characters with a powerful Olympian god as a parent. Dafne Keen, known for her role as X-23 in Logan, will portray Artemis, and Saara Chaudry, from The Mysterious Benedict Society, will play Zoë Nightshade.
