Phantom Blade Zero Enters Final Stages of Development, No AI in Use

S-GAME announced that their action RPG, Phantom Blade Zero, is nearing completion. In a recent statement, CEO and creator of the game, Soulframe, confirmed that no artificial intelligence was used during the game’s development.

You can read the full statement below:

We’re in the home stretch of developing Phantom Blade Zero! Right now, we’re focusing all our efforts and resources on making the game the best it can be.

We know technology is changing rapidly, but everything you see in our game is still made by real artists. We’ve made a firm decision not to use AI tools that would change their artistic vision.

We created our characters using detailed 3D scans of our incredible actors, who also performed the facial capture. The voice acting, in both Chinese and English, was carefully polished by our talented actors and directors, and we’ve perfectly synced the lip movements to the dialogue in both languages.

Our weapon designs are inspired by classic Chinese arms and armor. To truly grasp how a weapon feels and moves, we occasionally commission skilled blacksmiths to create authentic, full-sized replicas.

We use motion capture performed by over twenty skilled martial artists to create realistic combat. To ensure authenticity, we work directly with masters from traditional martial arts schools. For example, we consulted sword masters from Mount Emei for swordplay and brought in lion dance masters from Guangdong to choreograph the lion dance.

We explored beautiful and historic places all over China, including family temples in Fujian, old towns in Zhejiang, and even former steel mills in Beijing. We used these locations as inspiration, combining them in surprising ways to develop a unique visual style we call Kungfupunk.

The game includes beautiful maps created by hand. These aren’t computer-generated or digital paintings; instead, they were carefully drawn using traditional Chinese brushes and rice paper by talented young artists studying Chinese painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

We believe human creativity isn’t just about making things valuable – it is the source of value itself.

S-GAME didn’t simply set out to create a game. We wanted to build an incredible team, and to do that, we decided to make something we’d all be truly passionate about and proud to have created.

We’re excited for you to try out Phantom Blade Zero when it comes out in a few months. Thanks for your support!
