PlayStation Plus Price Increase Announced, Set to Begin This Week

Sony is raising the price of its PlayStation Plus subscriptions again. They already increased prices for Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers in 2023 – a move that many players disliked because it added at least $20 to the annual cost. Now, Sony is making its online membership even more expensive.

PlayStation announced today that PS Plus subscription prices will increase starting May 20th. The cost of a one-month membership will rise by $1 to $10.99, and a three-month subscription will go up by $3 to $27.99. Sony cited current market conditions as the reason for these changes.

It’s still unclear exactly how the recent PlayStation Plus price increase will work. Sony has said the change will only affect new subscribers, implying existing members won’t see a price hike. However, it’s not yet known whether “new customers” means anyone who isn’t currently subscribed, or only people who have never had a PS Plus subscription before.

Sony didn’t mention if the prices for PS Plus Extra and Premium will also increase. The price changes they announced only apply to the Essential tier, leading many to believe the Extra and Premium tiers will likely become more expensive too. However, we don’t yet know how much those prices will change, if at all.

The new prices for PlayStation Plus are going into effect soon, starting this Wednesday. We’ll share more details about the changes as soon as we have them, right here on ComicBook.
