Players with a subscription are always getting new games to try, and this month’s addition should be especially exciting for fans of challenging, action-packed “Soulslike” games. In fact, many are already calling this game one of the best of its kind coming out in 2025, and it’s available at no extra cost this month.
Okay, so PlayStation Plus is giving away some free games in May, and I’m pretty excited! We’re getting Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, which looks really cool, plus the latest EA Sports FC 26. There’s also Nine Sols to check out. The best part about EA Sports FC 26 is that it comes with a special PlayStation Plus Icons Pack DLC that you can’t buy anywhere else. We have until June 1, 2026, to add these to our library, so I definitely need to remember to grab them before they’re gone! It’s available for all PS Plus members – Essential, Extra, and Premium.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Is Available for Free on PS Plus
Released last summer for Xbox Series X/S, Windows, and PlayStation 5, the game Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has now sold over a million copies. While some initial reviews pointed out performance problems, especially on PCs, updates have fixed most of these issues, and the game is now receiving better feedback. It was even named Surprise of the Year at the UCG Game Awards.
The game takes place in a reimagined version of Shu province during the late Ming dynasty. Players control Bai Wuchang, a pirate who confronts terrifying supernatural events caused by a strange illness called the Feathering, which turns people into monstrous beings. As war, plague, and dark magic spread across Shu, Wuchang journeys through abandoned temples, haunted villages, and other dangerous locations to uncover the secrets of her past and the origin of this disaster.
The Game Is Among the Best Modern Soulslikes
The game takes inspiration from challenging action RPGs like Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring. Expect tough, close-up combat that relies on dodging and precise timing, all within a connected world you can explore. You’ll be able to customize your character with RPG-style builds and unique weapons. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers stands out with its ‘Skyborn Might’ system, which gives you powerful abilities and spells for playing aggressively. The game also features a ‘Madness’ mechanic, linked to a curse, that impacts how you progress.
The world of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a major attraction. It’s inspired by Chinese mythology and folklore, blending historical elements with dreamlike visuals. This creates a unique atmosphere, standing out from the common dark fantasy look of many similar games.
Neil Ralley, President of 505 Games, expressed excitement for the 2025 release of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. He highlighted the game’s incredible detail, engaging gameplay, and the impressive world created by Leenzee.
