Psychonauts 2, a 2021 platform game from Xbox and Double Fine, continues the story of the 2005 original. Players control Raz, a young acrobat training to become a Psychonaut—a member of a global team with psychic abilities. The game received positive reviews from both critics and players, who especially enjoyed its platforming, creative level design, graphics, overall tone, and how it improved upon the first game.
With high scores from critics (87-91 on Metacritic) and several award nominations – including consideration for Game of the Year – it’s not surprising that so many PlayStation Plus members downloaded Psychonauts 2 when it became available in September.
Psychonauts 2 Is GOTY Material
As we previously noted, Psychonauts 2 is no longer included with PlayStation Plus. However, if you downloaded it during its free availability and haven’t started playing, you might be inspired to do so! One Reddit user on r/PlayStationPlus recently shared, “I never thought I’d end up enjoying Psychonauts 2.” They explained they received it as part of a monthly game selection (they couldn’t recall which month) but hadn’t tried it until now. They were impressed, adding, “Thankfully, I added it to my library anyway. I’m blown away by how beautiful the art design is, even on PS4!” They’re now aiming to earn the platinum trophy.
The original poster wasn’t alone in their enthusiasm, as many other fans quickly joined the conversation to share their own opinions. One commenter said, “This game is truly excellent.
