PlayStation Store Raising Prices on PS4 and PS5 Games for Some

It appears that Sony is increasing game prices on the PlayStation Store for certain users in specific regions. Unfortunately, this might mean higher costs for games in the future, even for those living in the United States. Notably, PlayStation has not yet matched the $80 price point of Xbox and Nintendo for its PS5 games, but it may be preparing to do so.

It’s being shared that Sony has raised the prices of PS4 and PS5 games on the PlayStation Store, not just in Turkey but also in Brazil. At this point, it seems like these price hikes are only temporary. Intriguingly, sources from Brazil suggest that some exclusive PS5 titles, along with certain third-party games, now cost around 73 USD, which is a $3 increase. However, in a country like Brazil where gaming is already quite expensive compared to average income levels, these price rises could make the current console generation even more difficult for many people to afford.

Currently, in Turkey, the price of first-party PS5 games from PlayStation is significantly higher than in the US. In fact, these games are priced at around $88 USD, a considerable increase compared to their $70 USD price in the United States.

In many instances, Sony adjusts the cost of their products according to local market conditions, often making small, targeted changes for specific regions. This could potentially signal an upcoming price hike across all markets, but it’s too early to say for sure. However, any increase in price is generally seen as a negative sign. Currently, these increases are not affecting Sony’s major markets. It’s worth noting that Sony is currently facing lawsuits over PlayStation Store prices and practices, which might make them hesitant to extend regional increases into a broader global increase.

Currently, Sony (PlayStation) has yet to respond to these recent updates. It’s unlikely that this will change soon, but if it does, we’ll make sure to keep you updated.
