Today’s Pokémon Presents didn’t provide updates on Generation 10, but it did share fresh details regarding the eagerly awaited Pokémon Champions.
Besides flaunting a bit more of Pokémon Legends: Arceus and secretly launching a fresh Pokémon game, we were also treated to a new trailer for the upcoming title, Pokémon Champions.
Announced for both Nintendo Switch consoles and mobile devices during a Pokémon Presents event earlier this year, Champions is modeled after the Pokémon Stadium series from the Nintendo 64 era.
Up until recently, there was no information about its release date, but the latest trailer has made it clear that Pokémon Champions is slated for a 2026 launch.
As well as the release date, the new trailer shared some new information about the gameplay itself.
Users can engage in battles using Pokémon they’ve acquired directly within the game, or by transferring them from other games via Pokémon Home.
In this setup, players can engage in Ranked Matches, where they can either fight with their friends or compete against online adversaries. Both Single and Double Battle configurations are available for these contests.
Additionally, it simplifies customizing your Pokemon, appearing to enable players to use in-game money to adjust a Pokemon’s Individual Values (IV), Effort Values (EV), nature, as well as its moves and abilities.
It’s still unclear at this point, both how it functions and what methods are used to acquire the game’s currency.
Regarding the combat system, it’s been officially announced that the game will incorporate Terastallization, linking with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and also Mega Evolution, presumably to connect with the forthcoming Legends: Z-A.
Numerous gamers are praising this game as potentially the ultimate method for competitive Pokémon play in the future, with several predicting that it will outshine the primary series games during tournaments like the Pokémon World Championships.
As a dedicated fan, I must admit, foretelling what lies ahead isn’t within my power. Yet, one thing I can confidently say is, Pokémon Champions seems destined to ignite the enthusiasm of fellow enthusiasts like myself.
