Okay, so even though it’s freezing up here in the Northern Hemisphere, Pokemon Go is still going strong! We’re deep into the Precious Paths season, and Niantic just dropped a ton of info about what’s coming before 2026. There are a bunch of new events planned all the way through December and beyond. They’re even adding some cool holiday costumes for Pokemon! Plus, they’re promising at least one brand-new Pokemon before the end of 2025, but it looks like we’ll have to work for it to unlock it.
The “Well Armed” event in PokĆ©mon Go will take place from December 11th at 10 AM to December 16th at 8 PM local time. During this event, a new PokĆ©mon, Clobbopus, will appear in the wild. Clobbopus is a Water and Fighting-type PokĆ©mon originally from the Sword & Shield games. Before Clobbopus appears, players need to complete a special global challenge within PokĆ©mon Go.
How to Get Clobbopus in Pokemon Go
During the Well Armed event in PokĆ©mon Go, youāll be able to find Clobbopus both in the wild and as a reward for completing Field Research tasks. However, it wonāt appear until the community finishes a Global Challenge ā a series of goals PokĆ©mon Go players worldwide need to achieve together to unlock rewards. Recent Global Challenges have unlocked new PokĆ©mon, and once this one is completed, Clobbopus will start appearing in the game. Being a Water-type PokĆ©mon, you’ll most likely find it near water areas, though it might also appear in other locations, especially when it first becomes available.
Players can now unlock Clobbopus in PokĆ©mon Go by completing Max Battles, along with earning other rewards. To unlock Clobbopus, the PokĆ©mon Go community needs to collectively win 10,000,000 Max Battles before the end of the Well Armed event. The faster we reach this goal, the longer weāll have to enjoy increased wild PokĆ©mon appearances and special Field Research tasks. As of right now, the community has completed about 25% of the challenge, so it looks like weāll unlock Clobbopus with plenty of time to spare.
During the event, you’ll have a better chance of finding shiny versions of Dynamax Hitmonlee and Dynamax Hitmonchan in Max Battles. These boosted encounters can help you complete Max Battles to unlock Clobbopus. You can also find these PokĆ©mon through Field Research, but completing those tasks wonāt contribute to the overall Global Challenge.
Well Armed Event Featured Wild Spawns & Which Can Be Shiny
Clobbopus isnāt the only PokĆ©mon appearing more frequently during the event. While itās making its first appearance, other Fighting-type PokĆ©mon will also be more common in the wild. Hereās a list of the featured PokĆ©mon for the Well Armed event in PokĆ©mon Go:
- Clobbopus (once unlocked)
- Machop
- Makuhita
- Poliwag
- Octillery
Most of the PokƩmon appearing in this event can be found in their shiny forms, with the exception of Clobbopus and Octillery. This makes it a good opportunity to hunt for shiny PokƩmon, especially considering the increased chances of finding shiny Dynamax PokƩmon.
