Pokemon Go Unveils Precious Paths Season Details With New Masterwork Research, Pokemon Debuts & More

Pokemon Go regularly updates the game with new seasons. The current season, Tales of Transformation, is ending soon, and Niantic has announced the next one. Starting December 2nd, Pokemon Go will launch the Precious Paths season, bringing new Pokemon to find in the wild, new eggs to hatch, and special events to enjoy.

The Precious Paths season in Pokémon Go starts on December 2nd at 10 AM local time and runs until March 3rd, 2026 at 10 AM local time. During this season, you can look forward to new events, changes to which Pokémon appear in the wild and in eggs, and a new Masterwork Research quest that offers another chance to earn a Master Ball. Here’s a closer look at everything happening over the next few months to help you plan your adventures!

Pokemon Go Costume & Max Pokemon Debuts for Precious Paths

Niantic probably has a few surprises planned, but they’ve given us a sneak peek at some of the Pokemon coming this season. We can expect new Pokemon wearing costumes, as well as Max Pokemon, in the next few months. Here’s a look at the Pokemon debuting in the Precious Paths event in Pokemon Go:

  • Costume Sudowoodo
  • Costume Charjabug
  • Clobbopus
  • Grapploct
  • Dynamax Hitmonlee
  • Dynamax Hitmonchan
  • Gigantamax Meowth

The two new Pokemon dressed in costumes will be sporting holiday outfits, and I think Sudowoodo is quickly becoming my favorite.

Research Breakthrough & Egg Pool Pokemon for Precious Paths in Pokemon Go

Okay, so Pokemon Go is switching things up for the new season! I’ve noticed the Pokemon appearing in the wild are changing, and it’s not just that – the Pokemon I get from completing Research Breakthroughs and hatching 2KM eggs are different too. Plus, Niantic always adds that little ‘and more!’ to the egg lists, which means we can probably expect even more Pokemon to show up in eggs as the season goes on. It’s always exciting to see what they add!

Besides the regular egg types, you’ll also be able to find certain Pokémon through the Adventure Sync feature. Eggs earned by walking with Adventure Sync sometimes hatch into Pokémon you can’t normally find in other eggs. Here’s a list of those Pokémon.

Research Breakthrough Encounters

Okay, so during the new ‘Precious Paths’ season in Pokemon GO, these are the Pokemon I might run into when I complete my Field Research Breakthroughs – basically, after a week of daily research tasks!

  • Dreepy
  • Galarian Mr. Mime
  • Honedge
  • Lapras
  • Sinistea
  • Snorlax

Of these, all but Dreepy and Honedge can be Shiny.

2 KM Egg Pool

The following Pokemon will hatch from 2KM eggs during the Precious Paths season:

  • Bergmite
  • Cleffa
  • Smoochum

All three of these confirmed 2KM egg hatches can be Shiny in Pokemon Go.

5 KM Egg Pool

The following Pokemon will hatch from 5 KM eggs during this Pokemon Go season:

  • Archen (Adventure Sync)
  • Audino
  • Bonsly (Adventure Sync)
  • Elgyem
  • Riolu (Adventure Sync)
  • Snom

All but Snom can be Shiny in Pokemon Go.

7 KM Egg Pool

The following Pokemon can hatch from 7KM eggs, received via gifts from friends:

  • Alolan Diglett
  • Galarian Slowpoke (Mateo Route Reward)
  • Galarian Stunfisk
  • Galarian Zigzagoon
  • Hisiuian Growlithe (Mateo Route Reward)
  • White Stripe Basculin (Mateo Route Reward)

All of these Pokemon can be Shiny in Pokemon Go.

10 KM Egg Pool

The following Pokemon will hatch from 10KM eggs in Pokemon Go during the Precious Paths season:

  • Beldum
  • Drampa (Adventure Sync)
  • Dreepy (Adventure Sync)
  • Tinkatink

Of these, Beldum and Drampa can be Shiny.

Save the Dates: Community Days for Pokemon Go Precious Paths

Niantic has announced the dates for Community Days during the upcoming Precious Paths season, though they haven’t yet said which Pokémon will be highlighted. Here’s the schedule for the next few months:

  • December 6th-7th – December Community Day
  • January 4th – Community Day Classic
  • January 18th – January Community Day
  • February 1st – February Community Day

The December Community Day will be a year-end event featuring Pokémon that appeared in all of the 2025 Community Days. We’ll find out more details later!

Masterwork Research: A Precious Catch

Master Balls are rare in Pokémon Go, but there’s a new way to get one this season! Starting December 2nd, players can buy a ticket for a special research quest called “A Precious Catch.” The ticket costs $7.99 and, along with the Master Ball itself, will also give you other in-game rewards.

Other Key Details & Highlights for the Precious Paths Season

This season brings exciting new discoveries and lots of goodies! We’re launching both a standard GO Pass and a GO Pass Deluxe, each with unique rewards. Some of the biggest perks you can earn include more space to hold gifts and longer-lasting Daily Adventure Incense.

Get ready, because GO Battle League is getting a shake-up! They’re adding a bunch of cool, themed cups – like a Holiday Cup and a Sunshine Cup, just to name a couple. Plus, they’re revamping the rewards you get for ranking up, so there’s even more to play for!

A new Special Research quest will be available for all players at the beginning of the season. Simply log in to claim it, and more of the quest will become available as the Precious Paths season progresses.
