Pokemon fans have had a varied response to Pokemon Legends: Z-A. While many are enjoying exploring Lumiose City with their Pokemon and taking pictures, others are concerned that the new battle system has changed familiar moves and gameplay too much. One thing most players agree on is the extensive character customization options – a huge improvement over past games. This makes the lack of similar features in Scarlet & Violet particularly noticeable.
Because Legends: Z-A is part of the Legends series, players anticipated it would be similar to Legends: Arceus. While the new game is quite different overall, it still shares some core features with its predecessor, like how you catch Pokémon and the fact that it takes place in a familiar region. After the limited clothing options in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, the shops in Lumise City offer a welcome change. However, Scarlet & Violet still have one advantage when it comes to personalization: you could customize your Rotom Phone case.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Has a Surprising Character Customization Omission
Lumiose City has lots of shops where you can buy clothes and accessories to customize your character’s look. You can find everything from hats and bags to full outfits and shoes, letting you create a truly unique avatar. However, many players feel there could be more options for personalization. Some would love to be able to show off their Mega Stone in a special way, especially since Mega Evolution is a key part of the game. While that’s missing, the lack of cases for the Rotom Phone is a particularly strange oversight.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet allowed players to customize their Rotom Phone with different cases, which was a nice way to personalize the game since there weren’t many customization options available. The Pokémon Company even used these cases as part of Mystery Gift promotions alongside free Pokémon codes. Now, with Pokémon Legends: Z-A offering more choices for personalization, some fans are surprised that the Rotom Phone is stuck with its original red design.
It’s kinda annoying that my Rotom Phone is so important in Battle Royale but I can’t customize it! Every time I start a match, my phone goes head-to-head with my opponent’s in a little scene, and you can see they have different cases for theirs in Lumiose City. But me? I’m stuck with the default. It seems like a small thing, but it’s a little disappointing, especially since everyone’s talking about how much you can customize your character’s look in this game.

It’s possible Game Freak and The Pokemon Company are planning to release phone cases in a future update. They might add a feature like Mystery Gifts to distribute them later. We also know this new game will receive at least one downloadable expansion, something the previous game, Legends: Arceus, didn’t get. However, considering all the shops in Lumiose City, it’s surprising that none of them sell Rotom Phone cases to help trainers coordinate their phones with their outfits.
