The Pokemon Company, along with game developers Game Freak and Koei Tecmo, just released a new 10-minute trailer and fresh details—including screenshots—for their upcoming life simulation game, Pokemon Pokopia.
Here are the details:
A New Life from the Ground Up
In Pokemon Pokopia, you play as a Ditto who wakes up looking like a human. This Ditto meets Professor Tangrowth, a strange Pokémon living alone in the ruins of a town where humans and Pokémon once lived – and who seems to be using human-made tools. Seeing the overgrown and decaying land, Ditto sets out to rebuild it, crafting items and learning moves from other Pokémon, with the goal of creating a perfect home for everyone, little by little.

Building the Ideal Space
Players can learn moves by interacting with Pokémon, and these moves help them shape the environment to attract different species. These learned moves aren’t just for battling; they also let players interact with the world in useful ways, like breaking down walls with Rock Smash, growing plants with Leafage, gliding across gaps, or surfing on water.
As a fan, I’m so excited about how much you can do with Pokémon now! It’s not just battling – you can actually interact with them in really fun ways. Like, I can play jump rope with Bulbasaur using its vines, or have Charmander light fires for me. And the best part? You can even team up with a bunch of Pokémon to build houses together! It feels so much more connected and immersive.
Pokémon will sometimes ask for help making their homes more comfortable, and occasionally, they’ll need assistance with bigger issues. Helping them out will improve the surrounding area.
Players can customize their characters with new hairstyles and outfits, and create items and furniture to make their spaces unique. The game also supports cooperative play with up to four friends.
Peculiar Pokemon
In addition to Professor Tangrowth, players will encounter other mysterious Pokemon.
- Peakychu – A pale Pikachu with drooping ears whose fur is a mysterious colour.
- Mosslax – Moss has grown all over this Snorlax’s body, and it looks as though a flower is blooming atop its head. It must have been asleep for a really long time.
- Smearguru – A Smeargle with vibrant colours splattered across its body. It almost looks like a painter when it uses its tail as a brush.
Pokemon Pokopia is due out for Switch 2 on March 5, 2026.
