Pokemon Pokopia Is So Popular That Its Price Has Gone Up

The new Pokémon game, Pokémon Pokopia, released on Nintendo Switch 2, has quickly become a hit. Before it even launched, early reviews were overwhelmingly positive, making it one of the highest-rated games of 2026 and the best-reviewed Pokémon game ever. This huge excitement has caused a surge in demand, leading to temporary shortages and even a price increase.

Currently on Amazon, physical copies of Pokemon Pokopia are selling for $79.99, a $10 increase from the usual price of $69.99. This price jump is due to limited availability of the game, a tactic Amazon has used before when stock is low and appears to be continuing.

The current price increase for Pokopia on Amazon is temporary. As more copies become available, the price should return to normal. However, because the game is selling quickly, it’s difficult to predict when that will be.

There’s an Easy Workaround to Pokopia Shortages

If you want to buy Pokemon Pokopia, a good way to avoid the price increase is to purchase the digital version. Although some people prefer owning physical copies, Pokopia on the Switch 2 is released as a Game Key Card. This means the game isn’t actually stored on the cartridge itself; you need to download all the game data online. Because of this, the physical copy is very similar to the digital version.

The main benefit of buying a physical copy of Pokopia is if you want to resell or trade it later. Otherwise, most people with a Switch 2 can comfortably download the game from the Nintendo eShop, and the price there won’t change.
