Earlier this year, a new Pokémon game called Pokémon Pokopia was announced – it’s a life simulation game! The first look at the game reminded many people of Minecraft, but details about how it would actually play were limited. Now, with a confirmed release date of March 5th, a new, longer trailer has been released. This 10-minute video gives a much closer look at what it will be like to play what’s expected to be a major game for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.
The game Pokemon Pokopia is coming to the Switch 2 on March 5th, 2026. A recent trailer gave us a clearer look at how the game will play. As we already knew, Pokemon Pokopia will let you build and customize your own island. You’ll learn skills from Pokemon to make your island a better place to live. The new trailer also showed that the game shares a lot of similarities with Animal Crossing, and introduced the game’s Pokemon Professor.
New Pokemon Pokopia Trailer Confirms Pokemon Requests, Habitats, and More
The newest trailer for Pokemon Pokopia gives us a closer look at the upcoming, relaxing Pokemon game. A highlight is the introduction of a unique Tangrowth who will be the game’s Pokemon Professor. Having a Professor guide you on your Pokemon adventure is a key part of the traditional Pokemon games, and Pokopia playfully nods to this tradition with its own Pokemon Professor character. You can watch the extended gameplay trailer below to see more of what Pokemon Pokopia has to offer.
The new trailer shows 10 minutes of gameplay, focusing on what players will do in the game. You’ll build different habitats to lure Pokémon to your island, and once they arrive, they’ll ask for your help making their new home perfect. This might involve changing the environment so they can explore or even move around more freely. It gives off a strong vibe similar to the Animal Crossing series.
In Pokémon Pokopia, your Pokémon aren’t just there to receive help – they can lend a hand too! They’ll use their abilities to help you build things and improve your island, making it a lively community hub. You can also play with friends online, and even team up with someone who doesn’t own the game through the GameShare feature.

The new trailer shows that you won’t have to worry about mistaking your avatar for others, as each player’s Human Ditto will be unique. Pokopia will let you customize your character’s appearance with different hairstyles, clothes, and other options. Plus, you’ll also be able to decorate the inside of your buildings to create a personalized space.
The latest updates included a preview of new Pokémon appearing in the game. The trailer showcased Pokémon like Lapras, Pichu, Hitmonchan, Combee, and Trubbish, alongside Professor Tangrowth. We also saw the exciting ability of Human Ditto to transform into Pokémon like Lapras for water travel and Dragonite for flying.
The Pokemon world in Pokemon Pokopia is shaping up to be surprisingly varied. The trailer ended with a hint of even more unique Pokemon found only in Pokopia, including a ghostly version of Pikachu called Peakychu, a moss-covered Snorlax named Mosslax, and a strange Smeargle. I, for one, can’t wait to learn more about these unusual Pokemon and the island they call home.
