Pokémon Horizons is a fresh start for the Pokémon anime, moving beyond the story of Ash and Pikachu. The series now follows new trainers, Liko and Roy, who aren’t focused on becoming the very best, but instead on evading a dangerous group while protecting special objects. While episodes are still becoming available in North America and on Netflix after first airing in Japan, a new and significant development in Liko and Roy’s journey will arrive next month.
The next chapter of the Pokémon anime, *Pokémon: Rising Again*, will premiere in Japan on October 31st. Following the pattern of the anime, the story will feature Liko and Roy visiting a location from the Pokémon video games. They’ll be attending Blueberry Academy, a school originally seen in the *Pokémon: Scarlet and Violet* games. According to the official Pokémon social media, this new arc will focus on Liko, Roy, Uruto, and Dot training as Pokémon trainers at the academy. A new trailer and poster have been released to promote *Rising Again*.

Misaki Kuno will be joining the cast as the new character, Mathieu. She told Comic Natalie how excited she was to be part of the show, as she grew up watching Pokémon. Kuno highlighted that the best part of the series is seeing the characters strive to do their best and support each other through challenges. She described the experience as deeply personal and incredibly fun, rekindling her childhood joy of acting. Kuno hopes viewers will enjoy the series and the special moments the characters share as they overcome their weaknesses together.
Kuno won’t be the only new face joining the cast! Voice actor Masahiko Tanaka will play the role of Master Mayonnaise, a vibrant and eccentric trainer. Tanaka shared, “I am Master Mayonnaise! I’ll be appearing as a somewhat odd old man who encounters Roy and Ult as they train to achieve Mega Evolution. They’re competitive and hate losing, but they seem to be forming a connection. This is the story of how they meet and grow together through their training – stay tuned!”
