Officials are responding to worries about Savannah Guthrie‘s well-being following the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie.
Police have investigated the 84-year-old’s Arizona home as a crime scene, but they say there’s no sign of a threat to the public.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated in a press conference on February 2nd that he doesn’t believe there is a current danger, but emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and much work remains.
He also stated that police are in communication with Savannah, who hasn’t been on the Today show since Nancy was reported missing on February 1st.
The sheriff confirmed they had spoken with her. Her security team has been communicating with them all night, but they aren’t ruling anything out at this point.
Investigators currently think Nancy didn’t leave voluntarily. Her family last saw her at home around 9:30 p.m. on January 31st.
I just know she didn’t simply wander off! Detective Nanos said it himself – her mind is incredibly sharp, even at her age. She’s as with it as anyone, so something happened to her, something more than just getting lost. I refuse to believe anything else!
“Nancy Guthrie is of great sound mind,” he continued. “This is not dementia-related.”

Still, Nanos noted Nancy does suffer from “some physical challenges” that can put her at risk.
He explained that the patient is an 84-year-old woman with health problems who urgently needs medication. Without it within 24 hours, her condition could be life-threatening.
After her mother went missing, Savannah, age 54, asked anyone with information about her whereabouts to please reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
In a statement released on February 2nd, she expressed her family’s gratitude for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and support they’ve received. Their priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely.

Oh my gosh, Savannah Guthrie is just amazing! Did you know she was actually born in Melbourne, Australia? It’s so cool! Her dad, Charles Guthrie, was working there at the time, and she was the baby of the family – the youngest of three! But then, when she was only two years old, they moved all the way to Tucson, Arizona. I just love learning everything about her!
The Today show anchor was sixteen years old when her father, Charles, passed away from a heart attack in 1988. She has often spoken fondly of him since then, including in 2014 when she was pregnant with her first child with her husband, Mike Feldman.
Savannah described her father as a man of surprising contrasts. He was strong and could be intimidating, but also incredibly loyal, gentle, and loving when it mattered most. He was tall, affectionate, and had a naturally cheerful personality that brightened up any space.
She hoped their child would inherit not only Mike’s humor, calm nature, and kindness, but also the honesty and strong moral compass of her own father, who had passed away.

Even while pursuing her education at Georgetown Law and building her career with moves to Washington, D.C., and then New York City, Savannah has remained close to her mother, Nancy, who has lived in Arizona for over 50 years.
Savannah described her mother, Nancy, as an incredible and admirable person when Nancy turned 70 in 2012. She told Today.com that her mom inspires everyone she meets, and is intelligent, humorous, honest, and full of wisdom. Nancy also loves to have fun and is always ready for a new adventure.
Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE what Savannah did! Back in 2015, she took Nancy all the way to Australia! Can you imagine? She wanted Nancy to see where she was born – the actual room at Sandringham Hospital! And then, she took her to their childhood home in Beaumaris. It was like a pilgrimage, a journey to Nancy’s roots! I’m seriously obsessed with how much Savannah cherishes her family history.
Nancy expressed her surprise and joy at returning to Australia, saying, “I never thought I’d see Australia again,” during an appearance on Today. She described the trip overall as “wonderful.”
“I’m amazed we got all of this done in just three days,” Nancy exclaimed. Savannah nodded, adding, “We really maximized our time.”

Savannah enjoyed watching her mother with her own children, telling Hoda Kotb on Today in 2018 that it was a deeply meaningful experience. She realized she was finally seeing the kind of mother her own mom had been to her – simply enjoying the little things.
She was impressed with Nancy’s ability to connect with the children. Seeing Nancy’s lively personality and unique qualities made her appreciate her even more than she already did.
In 2022, when Nancy celebrated her 80th birthday, Savannah honored her mother on television, describing her as bold and full of spirit. She explained that Nancy faced incredible hardships with strength and without complaint, always maintaining her determination and unwavering belief. Savannah shared that her mother’s fierce love for her family, along with her selflessness, dedication, and strong confidence, shaped who they all became.

Nancy was reported missing on February 1st, 2026, after she was last seen at her home in Tucson the previous night.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos announced at a press conference that investigators were processing the 84-year-old woman’s home as a crime scene. He stated that while she was mentally sharp, she wasn’t physically well.
Savannah spoke on February 2nd, saying her family appreciates all the support, thoughts, and prayers they’ve received. Their main priority is bringing Nancy home safely.
She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the investigation and asked anyone with relevant information to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Savannah’s brother, Camron, is a former military pilot who prefers to keep to himself. However, he appeared in some Instagram photos celebrating his sister’s 50th birthday in 2021.
Savannah shared a heartfelt message on December 27th, expressing her love for her husband, whom she calls her treasure, and her children, referring to them as her ‘darling angel babies.’ She also acknowledged those who were with her at the start of her journey – her mother, Cam, and Annie – marking 50 years since a significant event.

Savannah and Annie are very close, and Annie has been a frequent guest on Today ever since Savannah began co-hosting in 2012.
Savannah described her sister, Annie, as essential to her life, saying, “She’s always been there for me, my whole life.” She shared this during a 2017 discussion about the strong connection she and Hoda share with their siblings.
Annie said they were “like the sun and the moon.”
“Her sorrows are my sorrows,” Annie explained, “and her successes are my successes.”
Savannah described herself as outgoing and quick to speak, but she saw Annie as someone who was more considerate and took time to think things through.

After divorcing her first husband, Mark Orchard, in 2009 following a four-year marriage, Savannah started a new relationship with Michael Feldman, who works as a communications consultant.
The couple got married in Tucson on March 15, 2014. Just two days later, Savannah announced she was expecting their first child. Guests actually found out about the pregnancy during the wedding weekend itself!
She appeared on Today on March 17th and cheerfully announced she was feeling fantastic, adding with a laugh that she was done trying to hide her stomach.

Savannah and Mike welcomed daughter Vale on Aug. 13, 2014.
The Today show host described the baby as having blue eyes, a touch of blond hair, and incredibly chubby cheeks.
When Savannah was pregnant, she shared on her blog that she and her husband liked unique baby names, describing them as a great way to start conversations.

Okay, so Savannah and Mike’s little boy, born December 8th, 2016? Seriously, the sweetest thing ever! They named him after Savannah’s dad, who sadly passed away. It’s just…so touching, and a beautiful way to keep his memory alive. I knew they’d pick something special, and this is just perfect! I’m obsessed with this family and this is just…ugh, my heart!
I was so relieved to hear he was doing well! His mom shared in a video on Today just a couple of days after he was born that he was happy and everyone at Vale absolutely loved him. It just warmed my heart to know he was settling in so nicely.
Savannah has spoken openly about the difficulties she faced trying to have another child, and she calls her son, affectionately known as Charley, a “medical miracle.”
In a 2018 interview on Today, Savannah shared her parenting philosophy: she believes the most important thing she can do for her children, Vale and Charley, is to focus on personal growth. She explained that at home, there’s no pretense, so it’s crucial to be genuine and consistently work on becoming the best version of yourself.
