A popular Marvel game from the current generation of consoles is reportedly coming to the new Nintendo Switch 2. Over the last ten years, Marvel has been collaborating with many different game developers to create original games based on its comic books. This has led to successful titles like Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and the Marvel’s Spider-Man series. Now, a well-received game that first launched in 2021 is likely to be released for those who own the Switch 2.
Hey, so this is pretty cool! I just saw that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy got rated for the new Nintendo Switch 2 in Taiwan. It doesn’t say when it’s coming out, but it definitely looks like Square Enix is working on a port for the new console. The game itself is awesome – Eidos Montreal did a great job with it, and everyone who played it, including critics, seemed to really enjoy it. It didn’t sell super well for Square Enix, but it’s still considered one of the best Marvel games we’ve gotten in a while.
This Marvel Title Was Previously on Switch, But It Wasn’t Great
Unlike many recent third-party games on the Switch 2 that never appeared on the original Switch, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy did. It was available on Switch when it launched in 2021, but the original version wasn’t as good as the versions on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. This was because it could only be played through cloud streaming, meaning players had to stream the game instead of playing a locally installed copy. While the streaming worked fairly well, it still wasn’t the same experience as playing the game directly on other platforms.
Okay, so if this leak is true, it looks like the Switch 2 version of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will actually run on the console, not be a cloud version or anything. That’s a huge deal! It’s going to make the game look and play way better than it ever did on the original Switch. I’m really hoping anyone who already owns it on Switch gets a free upgrade, but we’ll have to wait and see. Hopefully we find out more details pretty soon!
