The series Star Trek: Picard received a mixed reaction from fans, especially in its first two seasons. Many who loved The Next Generation and Voyager were disappointed to see familiar characters facing bleak and unhappy storylines. However, Season 3 of Picard was a big hit with TNG fans. It brought the surviving crew of the USS Enterprise-D back together to protect the Federation from a dangerous alliance between the Changelings and the Borg. The season featured both beloved veterans and a new generation of Starfleet officers – including the children of the original TNG crew – and was widely considered a satisfying and successful conclusion to the series.
…But it wasn’t supposed to be the end, necessarily.
The final episode of Star Trek: Picard strongly suggested a new Star Trek series called Star Trek: Legacy, and many fans were excited about the idea. This new show would have continued the story from the end of Picard Season 3, following the adventures of the USS Enterprise-G. It would have featured both new characters – the children of those we knew from The Next Generation and Picard – and familiar faces like Captain Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) and Raffi (Michelle Hurd), with occasional appearances from legacy characters such as Worf, Geordi La Forge, Riker, and Picard. While the show hasn’t been made yet, one potential cast member is now talking about its current status.
Todd Stashwick played Captain Liam Shaw on Star Trek: Picard Season 3, commanding the USS Titan-A. The Enterprise and the Titan teamed up to expose a dangerous plot involving the Borg and Changelings. Sadly, Shaw was killed when the Borg used new technology to assimilate people, specifically those below a certain age, and this affected the crew of the Titan. He sacrificed himself to ensure that those who weren’t affected could escape the ship.
Todd Stashwick Talks Star Trek: Legacy Show Status

Todd Stashwick recently answered five questions from Trek Movie readers, and one of them focused on the status of Star Trek: Legacy.
There haven’t been significant updates regarding Paramount’s plans for Legacy or other new Star Trek TV shows. However, actor Carlos Stashwick is still interested in reprising his role, and is open to returning in any creative way the show might utilize – something Star Trek is known for.
Stashwick expressed his enthusiasm for the potential Legacy project, saying he’s a big fan of the work, the character of Shaw, and the Star Trek world. He especially hopes the show would include the original cast members like Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd, Ed Speleers, Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut, and Mica Burton. He’s eager to be involved in any capacity, even as a holographic character, as long as it benefits his career.

Last summer, Jeri Ryan suggested that a new series, Star Trek: Legacy, isn’t off the table, even though it hasn’t been officially approved. With Paramount and Skydance recently merging, and the studio potentially looking at even more deals (including a currently paused merger with Warner Bros.), it’s difficult to anticipate new Star Trek shows until things stabilize.
