Post-Pragmata, Capcom Starts Hyping Up Onimusha’s PS5 Revival

Now that Capcom has released Pragmata, they’re likely to share more information about Onimusha: Way of the Sword soon.

Fans have been waiting a long time for this samurai game, and the publisher has consistently said it would be released this year. That means we should hear a release date very soon.

Good news for fans of the Onimusha series – including us! – Capcom seems to be working on a new game. The company hinted at this on social media, saying they have more announcements planned for 2026.

A recent post on X (what used to be Twitter) showed off images from several games, including Resident Evil Requiem, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, Pragmata, and the classic Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

The latter is layered with text that reads: “Up next”. Say no more.

It’s logical for Capcom to finish current projects before focusing on Onimusha, ensuring nothing they’re already working on interferes with its success.

It’s really striking how well Capcom has been doing lately. They’ve already released three critically acclaimed games in 2026 – that’s quite an accomplishment!

Indeed, the company’s currently the year’s best-scoring publisher. And again, it’s only April!

When will we finally get news about the Onimusha remake? While the predicted State of Play didn’t materialize, rumors are still circulating. Is waiting until summer for an announcement too long?

It’s hard to know for sure. We think Capcom might hold its own presentation soon, but they’ve already said we’ll see more about the Monster Hunter Wilds expansion this summer.

With growing speculation about downloadable content for Dragon’s Dogma 2, Capcom could have some significant announcements to make soon.

Wondering when Onimusha: Way of the Sword might be back? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
