Things have been quiet with Power Rangers games lately, with very little new news until recently. But that’s changed! A big update is coming to one popular Power Rangers game, and it’s adding characters from both Transformers and G.I. Joe. Plus, a brand new Power Ranger will be joining the roster!
Renegade Game Studios recently announced exciting news at their convention, Renegade Con: second editions are coming for their popular Power Rangers RPG, Transformers RPG, and G.I. Joe RPG! These updated versions will use a ruleset based on Dungeons & Dragons 5.5E. Players who already own the games don’t need to buy everything again – a free guide will be available to convert their existing Essence20 materials to the new Second Edition system.
This is a major update that will make the Power Rangers, Transformers, and G.I. Joe roleplaying games accessible to more players. Renegade Game Studios plans to launch updated versions of Transformers and G.I. Joe through a crowdfunding campaign, with the new Power Rangers RPG coming later.
A Brand New Power Rangers Game Is Also On The Way
At Renegade Con, it wasn’t just news about the Power Rangers Roleplaying Game Second Edition. The studio also revealed a new dice game called Power Rangers Impossible Odds, scheduled for release in 2027. In this cooperative game, players work together to defeat one of four classic Power Rangers villains.
This collaborative dice game challenges players to defeat villains like Goldar, Terror Toad, Chunky Chicken, and Knasty Knight. You’ll work together, rolling and strategically using your dice and special abilities to overcome enemies – from smaller Putties to the formidable bosses.
Renegade Game Studios has a history with Power Rangers, having previously created Heroes of the Grid, a cooperative game that included content from across the entire franchise and finished with a successful crowdfunding campaign called Eternal Rangers. They also made the popular Power Rangers Deckbuilding Game with several expansions, though it appears that game is no longer in production.
It’s great news for fans: the Power Rangers Roleplaying Game is continuing with a new edition that aims to attract even more players.
The team expects to launch a crowdfunding campaign for the Power Rangers Roleplaying Game Second Edition later this year. As for the Power Rangers Impossible Odds game, it’s currently planned for release in 2027.
