The excitement surrounding the upcoming film “Predator: Badlands” at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 was truly authentic. Director Dan Trachtenberg, known for “10 Cloverfield Lane”, skillfully employed surprise to his advantage. In 2022, he unexpectedly released a prequel film titled “Prey”. Earlier this year, it was believed that his “Predator” animated anthology on Hulu, named “Predator: Killer of Killers“, would be an animation series. However, it turned out to be a clever multi-chapter movie that concluded with some startling revelations, completely altering the possibilities for the franchise.
In the final scene of “Killer of Killers,” it was disclosed that the Predator species, specifically the Yautja, don’t just hunt their adversaries in different movies for entertainment; they also gather humans who have bested them. This notion is supported by the image of Comanche warrior Naru (played by Amber Midthunder), found in a cryogenic freezing chamber, hinting at her victory over a Predator dating back to 18th century America. Naturally, fans of Predator are left pondering: if Naru has been collected, then what about other successful warriors such as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Dutch from the first film and Danny Glover’s Lt. Mike Harrigan from “Predator 2”?
At Comic-Con 2025, it’s officially been revealed that Dan Trachtenberg successfully brought Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Glover back to the Predator series. The Predator crew has revisited their plans to incorporate both actors in the “Killer of Killers” post-credits scene retrospectively.
Predator: Killer of Killers’ New Post-Credits Scene Finally Ties The Franchise Together

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my awe at the magnitude of this shift in the Predator saga. After three decades of individual sequels, Dan Trachtenberg and his team have embarked on their own franchise timeline (with Badlands poised to be its third chapter). What’s truly mind-blowing is how they’ve seamlessly woven together all the unresolved plotlines from the original films, as well as the attempts at rebooting the series such as Predators and The Predator.
The primary concerns revolve around: What is the ultimate purpose of this construction, and where does Dan Trachtenberg’s upcoming Predator film titled Predator: Badlands fit within the picture? Furthermore, what significance does it hold that Badlands is intertwining its narrative with the continuous storyline of the Alien franchise?
This period is truly thrilling for enthusiasts of iconic ’80s and ’90s franchises. Despite Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Glover being a bit older now, the series “Killer of Killers” offers a fresh avenue for their characters’ narratives to unfold, along with potential voice acting roles for the actors. Additionally, the Marvel “Predator” comic series has introduced John Schaefer, Dutch’s brother, into the storyline, which could open up new possibilities.
Go watch Predator: Killer of Killers‘ new ending over on Hulu.
