Pregnant Alyssa Farah Griffin Explains 3-Day Absence From The View

Alyssa Farah Griffin‘s view is focused on getting better. 

The View co-host explained her three-day absence from the show, saying she’s been ill with a stomach virus.

Being sick while over six and a half months pregnant is really tough,” Alyssa shared on Instagram on December 3rd. She and her husband, Justin Griffin, are expecting their first child together. She reminded everyone that it’s cold and flu season, so it’s important to practice good hygiene – like using hand sanitizer – and stay home if you’re feeling unwell.

The 36-year-old added that she “will hopefully be back” for The View‘s Dec. 4 episode.

Alyssa isn’t the only host who’s been away from the show recently. Whoopi Goldberg was also absent for two weeks, but she returned to the Hot Topics discussion on December 1st.

The 70-year-old actress joked that after filming the Italian soap opera Un Posto Al Sole, she was so disoriented she wasn’t even sure what language she was thinking in or what time it was.

Whoopi Goldberg playfully sent her co-hosts on The View lots of pictures of herself filming, joking that she wanted to prove she was actually at work.

I gained a lot of experience because I hadn’t worked on a soap opera before. Filming one in another country and language was a truly fascinating and enjoyable challenge.

Her work sabbatical followed Joy Behar‘s four-day hiatus to recover from a foot injury.

I broke my toe when my iPad fell on my foot,” the 83-year-old shared when she returned on November 17th. “It’s quite painful, and I definitely don’t recommend dropping anything on your toes!”

Because of her injury, the show’s format was adjusted slightly. Instead of walking out onto the stage, all the hosts began the episode already seated at the table.

As Joy quipped, “We didn’t walk out today in sympathy of my foot.”

She didn’t share her diagnosis until 2025, when she revealed on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with the condition for over ten years.

She explained that growing up, many girls are taught to expect period pain and accept it as a normal part of womanhood. This often leaves people dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.

 

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she was hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap to form in her abdominal muscles.

Someone messaged Suki on X (formerly Twitter) asking why she hadn’t been tweeting lately. Suki jokingly replied that she’d been hiding a serious injury – a hernia caused by wearing overly tight pants six months ago – and was afraid to mention it.

Brian shared in an Instagram video that he recently experienced stomach pain which led him to the emergency room. He explained he had a perforated appendix – it hadn’t fully burst, but was very close to doing so.

A Racing Louisville midfielder fell to the ground early in her team’s game against Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle.

According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player sat down on the field with a teammate supporting her, and then collapsed shortly after, prompting the referee to call for medical staff.

After receiving immediate medical attention on the field, Savannah was taken to a nearby hospital for further tests. League officials reported she is currently stable and responsive.

Adam Devine revealed that injuries from a cement truck accident he experienced at age 11 continue to cause him problems now.

In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone else at a party. They fired a weapon unsafely, and she was hit five times, with one bullet narrowly missing her right eye. @thebrendanrooney quickly helped her, evaluating her injuries and rushing her to the hospital.

The former Kim Possible star explained that a small piece of something got stuck behind their eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, but they’re keeping a close watch on the situation. Thankfully, their vision is currently normal.

The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving a frightening experience. She shared how much she cherishes her daughters, husband, family, and friends, explaining that she realized how precious life is. She urged everyone to embrace their loved ones, emphasizing that life can change unexpectedly in a moment.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, even though it can be harsh, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier,” Schumer was surprised when doctors started commenting on her appearance in online comments, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome. They pointed out changes in her face that concerned them. This led Schumer to realize she’d been receiving steroid injections for procedures like a breast reduction and C-section, which could have caused the condition. She wouldn’t have known about it otherwise. In a recent newsletter, Schumer shared that she’s relieved to learn her type of Cushing syndrome will resolve on its own and that she’s healthy.

Doctors discovered she had experienced a TIA, or transient ischemic attack, caused by a small blood clot in her brain. Further testing at UCLA revealed Hailey had a patent foramen ovale (PFO), a hole in her heart. The blood clot had traveled through this hole and reached her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that temporarily paralyzed part of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the virus affected nerves in his ear and face, causing paralysis on one side. He showed his followers that he couldn’t blink, smile, or move his nostril on the affected side, and that it was becoming increasingly difficult to eat. Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away.

Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well and feeling much better. She described the situation as scary and unexpected, but expressed her gratitude that he was going to be okay.

Jamie Foxx initially kept the details of his health scare private, but he later shared what happened. He explained that while in Atlanta in April 2023, he experienced a severe headache and asked for aspirin. Before he could take it, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next 20 days.

He first saw a doctor who gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home. However, his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital, where doctors discovered he’d suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke.

After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for all the prayers he received, saying he needed every single one.

The reality TV star shared that she briefly stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC competition show.

She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling as though she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, she remembered only darkness, followed by light, leading her to realize she had died that day.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where your body essentially begins to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the series, she experienced a severe headache during a gym workout that quickly escalated. She described becoming violently ill and realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She underwent immediate surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, struggling to speak coherently.

Though she left the hospital after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This procedure initially failed, causing a massive bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.

Thankfully, Emilia Clarke now says she has made a full recovery and is doing well.

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared how thankful she is for her family’s support after a health scare. In January 2024, Cori suffered a stroke and immediately reached out to her loved ones. She told TopMob News that everyone quickly came to her aid. While she could have gone home after the stroke, other health issues – including problems with her lupus and kidneys – required a longer hospital stay. Thankfully, Cori is now recovering well. She mentioned she’s been working to regain some motor skills, but overall is doing great.

Shailene Woodley struggled with serious health issues throughout her 20s. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she described losing her hearing, being unable to walk for more than a few minutes without needing to rest for hours, and experiencing constant stomach pain. She faced a confusing array of diagnoses from different doctors.

Determined to find answers, Woodley, who prefers to keep her specific condition private, combined traditional medical care with holistic and herbal remedies. This search for well-being lasted for a decade.

She explained that the physical discomfort led to anxiety around food and ultimately to struggles with body image and identity. She questioned what it meant to feel safe and comfortable in her own body.

Fortunately, after years of focusing on both her physical and mental health, Shailene is now feeling much better and is happy to report she is very healthy.
