Sitcoms are enjoying a modern renaissance in the 21st century. While the genre has seen successful periods in the 1950s, 70s, and 90s, today’s shows are different. We’ve moved away from traditional setups to more innovative formats like single-camera comedies and mockumentaries, with popular examples including Schitt’s Creek, Parks and Recreation, and How I Met Your Mother. One often-overlooked gem from this era is now available to stream in its entirety – all 100 episodes are on Prime Video.
All 100 episodes of the sitcom Rules of Engagement, created by Tom Hertz, became available on Prime Video on March 25th. The show originally aired on CBS from 2007 to 2013 and was a consistent part of their comedy programming, though it never became a major hit. This was partly because it often premiered mid-season and its time slot changed frequently. Rules of Engagement humorously explored modern relationships, following a long-married couple, a couple getting ready to wed, and a single friend as they all experienced the ups and downs of love and dating.
Rules of Engagement Is a Criminally Underrated Sitcom That More People Need To See
Even if you didn’t catch it when it first aired or have forgotten about it since it ended, Rules of Engagement is a funny sitcom worth checking out. It’s a classic, feel-good comedy – the kind with a laugh track – that offers 20 minutes of easy, lighthearted humor. The show focuses on relationships and takes place in relatable settings, giving it a familiar vibe similar to shows like Seinfeld or Friends. It’s simply a relaxing and enjoyable watch, perfect for unwinding after a long day.
If you’re looking for a consistently funny show, definitely check out Rules of Engagement. So many sitcoms fall apart after a few seasons, but this one stayed hilarious from beginning to end – it consistently gets an 81% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, which says a lot! What really makes it work is the writing – it’s full of clever jokes and quick, witty conversations. Plus, the chemistry between Patrick Warburton and David Spade is fantastic – they’re a truly hilarious duo. The whole cast is great, honestly, but I especially loved when Adhir Kalyan joined as Timmy, Russell’s assistant. He really added another layer to the comedy, and it’s totally worth watching just for him!
What’s New on Prime Video?
If you’re a Prime Video subscriber, March 25th brings a lot of new content! The streaming service has added twelve TV shows, including complete seasons of classics like All In The Family, Drop Dead Diva, Good Times, The Shield, and Who’s The Boss. This comes after Prime Video added many movies throughout March, featuring titles like Father Stu, Raging Bull, and all four Shrek films.
