A new animated Batman series, Bat-Fam, is now streaming on Prime Video. It comes from the same team behind the 2023 holiday film Merry Little Batman and features Batman alongside his wider family. While Damian Wayne appears, this version is different from the one seen in comics or other animated shows. The series blends familiar faces like Alfred Pennyworth with new characters within the Bat family, such as Alfred’s niece, Alicia Pennyworth, and a younger version of Volcana, now known as Claire Selton.
The new Prime Video animated series, Bat-Fam, features a large cast of Batman characters – a total of 22 – including seven main players and a variety of supporting characters.
7) Luke Wilson as Bruce Wayne / Batman

Luke Wilson provides the voice for Batman in the new series, Bat-Fam. But this isn’t the Batman most people are used to. After successfully cleaning up Gotham City and removing most of the villains, he’s now focused on being a father. The story explores his relationship with his son, Damian, and his role as a father figure to a younger Volcana. This Batman has a beard and often struggles to express his feelings. While he’s enjoying family life, old and new criminals are returning to Gotham, forcing him to balance fatherhood with protecting the city.
6) Yonas Kibreab as Damian Wayne / Little Batman

Yonas Kibreab provides the voice for Damian Wayne in the series Bat-Fam. The creators made a smart choice by casting a child actor, as this version of Damian is different from the one most comic book readers know. He’s not currently acting as Robin, and he’s not the typical boastful, entitled teenager who believes he’s destined to be a hero. Instead, this Damian is a younger, more relatable ‘Little Batman’ – a sidekick eager to be a hero, but realistic about his limitations, like needing to be in school. He’s also significantly kinder than his comic book counterpart, genuinely wanting a sibling relationship with Claire and fiercely protective of his family and home.
5) James Cromwell as Alfred Pennyworth

James Cromwell, a well-known actor, provides the voice for Alfred Pennyworth. As Batman’s loyal butler and caregiver, this version of Alfred is revealed to be in his 80s. He’s depicted with a hunchback and often appears tired, but remains dedicated to looking after Bruce Wayne. He’s also Alicia Pennyworth’s uncle and frequently serves as the voice of reason for those around him, offering a much-needed mature perspective.
4) Haley Tju as Claire Selton/Volcana

Haley Tju provides the voice for Claire Selton, also known as Volcana, a relatively new villain from the Black Lightning comics, first appearing in 2024. While she originated as a supervillain in the 90s animated series Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League, this version of Volcana has a very different story. After falling into the Lazarus Pit, she was transformed into a 12-year-old girl. Bruce Wayne then decided to adopt her, bringing her into the Bat Family as an ally to Batman and his son, Damian Wayne.
3) London Hughes as Alicia Pennyworth (Alfred’s niece)

London Hughes plays Alicia Pennyworth, a new character in Bat-Fam. She’s Alfred Pennyworth’s niece and an old friend of Bruce Wayne. As a social worker, she runs E*Vil – an organization dedicated to helping former supervillains become productive members of society and stay out of trouble. But Alicia also has a surprising second role in the show, which is revealed as the major twist in the first season.
2) Michael Benyaer as the ghost of Ra’s Al Ghul

Michael Benyaer portrays Ra’s Al Ghul as a ghost in the series. Although Ra’s Al Ghul is traditionally depicted as deceased in the Bat-Family stories, this version lives as a ghost at Wayne Manor to stay near his grandson, Damian Wayne. Similar to the comics, he wants Damian to follow his path, but the series handles this with more humor. He’s often annoyed, perpetually dissatisfied, yet still manages to function as a somewhat grumpy, unwilling grandfather figure within the family.
1) Bobby Moynihan as Kirk Langstrom / Man-Bat

As a big fan of the Bat-Family, I have to say, Dr. Kirk Langstrom, a.k.a. Man-Bat, is a surprisingly fun addition! He’s mostly hanging out as Man-Bat, but he’s not a villain at all – more like a quirky, well-meaning uncle. He’s still incredibly smart and retains his personality, but he definitely lacks personal space, especially when Alfred’s trying to cook. He’s taken up residence in the Wayne Manor bell tower and has this habit of just showing up to offer advice or join in games when everyone else is busy. It’s a really interesting dynamic!
Supporting Characters

- Lori Alan as Livewire – Like Volcana, Livewire was a supervillain created for Superman: The Animated Series. She has since become a villain to Superman in the comics as well, a villain with electricity powers. In Bat-Fam, she is one of the villains who have returned to Gotham City to cause problems.
- Diedrich Bader as Killer Moth – Killer Moth is a villain who is a longtime villain of Batman from the comics. He has no superpowers, but uses tech to commit crimes. In Bat-Fam, he is no longer a villain and is rehabilitated and part of E*Vil.
- Kaitlyn Robrock as Copperhead – Copperhead is a Batman villain from the comics who has been around since 1968. He always wore a snake-skin costume and could fit into tight places, making him a great thief. In Bat-Fam, Copperhead is a woman and is rehabilitated and part of E*Vil.
- Fred Tatasciore as Giganta, King Tut & Solomon Grundy – Giganta and King Tut are old-school villains, with King Tut one of the most popular villains from the classic Adam West Batman TV show. Both of them are part of E*Vil, as rehabilitated criminals. Solomon Grundy shows up as a villain in the series.
- Andia Winslow as Parademon Leader – The Parademons are from Darkseid’s world, and they show up in the episode where Harvey Dent’s daughters and Damian Wayne accidentally open a Mother Box on a field trip.
- Aristotle Athari as The Mad Hatter – The Mad Hatter shows up as a villain in Bat-Fam and is one of the first people Batman battles when the villains return to Gotham City. Just like in the comics and other animated series, he uses his hat to hypnotize people.
- Natalie Palamedes as The Sad Hatter – The Sad Hatter is an original Bat-Fam character. She is Mad Hatter’s daughter, and she has no desire to be a supervillain, or really to do anything much at all. However, Sad Hatter leaves her dad to join the E*Vil group.
- David Hornsby as The Joker – The Joker also returned for Bat-Fam, voiced by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star David Hornsby.
- Cynthia Kaye McWilliams as Vicki Vale – Most people first got to know Vicki Vale when she appeared in the Tim Burton Batman movie in 1989 as Bruce Wayne’s love interest. However, she has been in DC Comics since 1948 and is back for Bat-Fam as a news reporter for GNN.
- Kevin Michael Richardson as Clayface – Before he makes his big movie debut next year in the DCU’s first horror movie, Clayface has a little sillier role here in Bat-Fam. He is back here as a villain, fighting Batman and his family.
- Reid Scott as Commissioner Gordon – As with the comics and prior TV shows, Commissioner Gordon was an officer on the Gotham City Police Department and an ally to Batman. In Merry Little Batman, he was ready to retire until he had “one last mission.” He, however, returned in Bat-Fam, still fighting crime.
- Natasha Leggero as Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost – Most people remember Killer Frost from her time spent in the Arrowverse as one of Flash’s main enemies. She is a villain again here.
- Kailen Jude as Toyman – Toyman was actually teased in the Peacemaker HBO Max series, as Peacemaker went to one of Toyman’s toy stores to interview with the Justice Gang. However, Toyman has only been a minor character in comics and cartoons, and is back in Bat-Fam in a really fun take on the character.
- Dolph Adomian as Mr Freeze – The oldest villain in Bat-Fam is Mr. Freeze, who is almost 70, and was part of Joker’s group in Merry Little Batman. He also made a small return in Bat-Fam in the same role.
