A recent image from the second season of Netflix’s One Piece show gives fans a complete look at Smoker, confirming his appearance in the series. Season 2 will start with the Loguetown Arc, based on the original manga by Eiichiro Oda, and will conclude the East Blue Saga. This arc will feature the live-action debut of Smoker, played by Callum Kerr.
The live-action One Piece series has released its first official look at Callum Kerr as Smoker and Julia Rehwald as Tashigi. The photo shows the two actors in what appears to be the Gold Roger bar in Loguetown, a location featured in the series’ storyline. They’re in conversation, but the topic of their discussion isn’t yet known. You can see the image below.
We’ve seen glimpses of Smoker, Rehwald, and Tashigi before in the upcoming season of One Piece. Smoker actually appeared briefly at the end of season 1, though a different actor played him at the time – he was seen looking at a wanted poster for Luffy. But this is the first time we’re seeing Smoker in his complete outfit.
Smoker is a powerful figure in Loguetown, responsible for capturing pirates who come to the town to stock up before entering the dangerous Grand Line. He has the ability to control and even become smoke, thanks to the Moku Moku no Mi Devil Fruit.
Tashigi is a naval officer and the vice-commander at Loguetown. She dreams of becoming a skilled swordswoman, with a particular focus on safeguarding valuable, ancient swords from pirates. Despite her ambition, she’s a bit clumsy and develops a complex connection with one of the Straw Hat pirates when they visit Loguetown.
Two new characters joining One Piece in season 2 will be the last major challenge Luffy and his crew encounter before they officially enter the Grand Line. These characters will also be very important as the story moves into the Alabasta Saga, which will continue throughout the rest of season 2 and into season 3.
As a huge One Piece fan, I’m getting so excited for season 2! It’s just a few months away, and I can’t wait to see what Smoker and Tashigi get up to. They felt really important in setting things up last season, so I’m expecting them to have a lot to do this time around. Honestly, if they follow the manga and remix things like they did in season 1, I think Smoker and Tashigi might even become even bigger players as the story unfolds.
