If you’ve been in Japan recently, you’ve probably noticed the buzz around Needy Girl Overdose – released as Needy Streamer Overload outside of Japan – and its main character, OMGkawaiiAngel.
You can easily find collectibles and merchandise featuring the main character of the visual novel at most hobby shops, and there are also a few manga adaptations available now.
The visual novel for both PS5 and PS4 is about to become incredibly popular, and the teams behind it – WSS Playground, Yostar Pictures, and Aniplex (a part of Sony) – are ready to make that happen.

The anime series will premiere in Japan in April 2026. Before it airs on TV, there will be special preview screenings at Shinjuku and Umeda theaters. It will likely be available worldwide through Crunchyroll as well.
Okay, so at first glance, this game looks super cute and a little retro, like something straight out of Windows 95. But trust me, it’s way deeper than that! Without giving anything away, you basically step into the shoes of a teenager who’s struggling with their mental health, and they’re… a lot to take care of. It’s a really unique experience, managing their everyday life.
Here’s the anime’s summary, from its official website:
NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE is an adventure game where players experience a month in the life of a girl determined to become a popular streamer, with help from someone named ‘P’. Since its release on Steam in January 2022, the game has been downloaded over three million times, and its music has been streamed over 400 million times, making it a successful indie title that reflects online culture.
If you haven’t experienced this game yet, it’s fantastic. We’re a little unsure how the anime adaptation will handle the story, but we’re still looking forward to seeing it next year.
