Prince Louis, 7, Offered His First Royal Role But His Parents Said No

Some might say this royal news is a little nuts.

Organizers of the World Conker Championships invited seven-year-old Prince Louis to be an honorary patron after learning he enjoys collecting conkers (horse chestnuts) at home, according to the Telegraph. However, Prince William and Kate Middleton politely declined the offer, as Prince Louis is not currently a working member of the royal family.

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace said they were grateful for the invitation, but Prince Louis is currently focused on his schoolwork, playfully referring to him as ‘conker-trating’ on his studies.

Kate Middleton, who is also a mother to Prince George, 12, and Princess Charlotte, 10, recently shared that her youngest son, Louis, loves playing conkers. She mentioned this during a conversation last month with Dwayne Fields, the head of the Scout Association, an organization Kate helps lead.

It’s just…conkers. They’re *everywhere*! I mean, she told everyone, and it’s true – we find them in the cupboards, tucked into his bed… just conkers, all the time. It’s honestly a bit unsettling, but also… strangely fascinating. I can’t stop thinking about all those conkers!

Some might say this royal news is a little nuts.

When officials from the World Conker Championships heard that 7-year-old Prince Louis loves to collect and hide horse chestnuts around his house, they offered him the honorary role of patron for the competition. However, Prince Louis won’t be officially involved with the championships despite his fondness for conkers.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson told *The Telegraph* on October 15th that while they appreciate the invitation, Prince Louis is currently focused on his schoolwork, playfully described as ‘conker-trating’.

Kate, who is also mother to Prince George, 12, and Princess Charlotte, 10, recently shared that her son Louis loves playing conkers. She mentioned this last month while speaking with Dwayne Fields, the Chief Scout of the Scout Association.

According to PA Media, the co-president of the Scout Association, a 43-year-old man, told reporters on September 18th that they were constantly finding conkers – in cupboards, in his bed, and all over the house.

Oh my gosh, you guys, did you HEAR?! The people running the World Conker Championships – seriously, the BEST competition ever where you basically try to smash someone else’s conker with yours on a string – they said they were SO happy to find out Prince Louis is a fan! I mean, a ROYAL conker enthusiast? It’s just…everything! I knew he seemed like a cool kid, but this confirms it. It makes me love the sport even MORE!

He’s exactly the kind of person we’d love to have as an honorary patron,” he said in an interview with the Telegraph earlier this week. “We would be very pleased if his parents would agree to our invitation.

In addition to his conker hobby, Louis is also into music these days, notably playing the drums.

William mentioned that his youngest son would likely try his hand at whatever they were doing in the music studio, as he’s been practicing currently. He shared this while visiting the Oasis St Martin’s Village charity in London, according to Hello! magazine.

The prince revealed that all three of his children are taking up musical instruments. According to *Hello!* magazine, Prince George is learning to play the guitar, and Princess Charlotte is learning the piano.

He explained that he wants his children to learn music simply because he enjoys it himself, and he believes it’s incredibly important for them.

In October 2025, the King and his oldest son attended the Countdown to COP30 event at the Natural History Museum in London.

The couple took photos outside the museum and then went inside for meetings with government officials and climate activists. This event took place ahead of the COP30 World Leaders Summit in Belém, Brazil, in November, which Prince William will attend as a representative for his father.

As a long-time supporter of Julia’s House, I was really saddened to hear the news about the Duchess of York stepping down as a patron in September 2025. It seems an old email from 2011 surfaced, where she referred to Jeffrey Epstein as a friend, and that led to this difficult decision. It’s a shame, as she’d always been such a visible and enthusiastic advocate for the charity.

After news emerged this weekend about the Duchess of York’s communication with Jeffrey Epstein, Julia’s House has decided it’s no longer appropriate for her to continue her role as a patron of the charity. The charity has informed the Duchess of this decision and expressed gratitude for her previous contributions, according to The Guardian.

A representative for Ferguson stated the email was sent following a threat made against her by Epstein.

After a 19-month absence, Prince Harry was spotted arriving at Clarence House—the King’s home in London—apparently to visit his father before attending another event in the city.

Harry arrived at the house around 5:20 p.m. on September 10th, but Charles had come back just a few hours earlier.

Princess Anne’s son and his former husband, Mark Phillips, announced their engagement to Harriet Sperling on August 1st, after dating for over a year.

The couple’s spokesperson told Hello! magazine that both families were told about the engagement at the same time and were very happy about it.

Just a day before turning 78, the royal was made an honorary Vice Admiral by the Royal Navy.

Camilla is the first woman to receive this honorary title. It’s awarded only by the monarch—currently her husband, King Charles III—based on a recommendation from the First Sea Lord, Sir Gwyn Jenkins.

Just hours before she was scheduled to attend, Princess Catherine cancelled her appearance at Royal Ascot, the annual horse race. Kensington Palace confirmed the news to NBC News.

I was so sad to hear that Princess Kate couldn’t make it to the event, but the palace said she’s really trying to find a good rhythm for herself as she returns to public duties after everything she’s been through with her cancer. It sounds like she’s taking things one step at a time, and I completely understand and support that.

Prince Harry’s lawsuit seeking extra security ended on May 2nd when a court dismissed it. This came more than a year after a previous request for increased protection was denied by the High Court’s Royal and VIP Executive Committee.

After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stopped being full-time working royals in 2021 and moved to the US, their security protection was reduced. Since then, Harry has asked for security arrangements to be made when he travels to the UK.

Prince Harry told the BBC on May 2nd that he was deeply upset by the outcome of his recent legal fight. He stated that, as things currently stand, he doesn’t foresee returning to the UK with his wife and children.

In an interview with the BBC on May 2nd, Prince Harry said his father, King Charles III, isn’t currently speaking to him due to disagreements about security. He expressed hope that they could resolve their differences and rebuild their relationship.

As a longtime supporter of Harry, it’s so heartwarming to hear him say he wants to rebuild his relationship with his family, especially with his dad and the rest of the royals. It really seems like he’s extending an olive branch, but ultimately, it’s up to his father to respond and decide if they can move forward. I’m hoping they can find a way to reconnect for Archie and Lilibet’s sake.

He doesn’t foresee returning to the U.K. with his family anytime soon. He expressed sadness at the thought of his children not getting to know his home country.

Harry explained that his father has significant influence and could potentially solve the situation. He suggested this wouldn’t require direct involvement, but rather allowing professionals to handle things without interference.

I’m seeing a really positive shift – after years of disagreement, he’s finally reaching out for peace. It’s incredibly moving, and he shared with me that a big part of it is realizing just how valuable life is, especially with his father’s health being uncertain. It really puts things into perspective, doesn’t it?

More than a year after revealing his cancer diagnosis, King Charles wrote on April 29th that going through treatment has highlighted the kindness and strength of people around him.

It’s a really inspiring mission, and I think he’ll be a fantastic leader.

He was promoted almost seven years after he raised concerns about Meghan Markle, claiming she bullied two personal assistants and tried to discredit another staff member. Representatives for the Sussexes denied these claims, telling *The Times* the story was a deliberate attempt to damage their reputation with false information.

Buckingham Palace looked into the claims, but the investigation concluded in 2022 with no public announcement of its results.

A father and son were visibly happy while watching the UEFA Champions League Quarter Final match between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa at Parc des Princes stadium.

Graham Craker, a former bodyguard to Prince Harry and Prince William, passed away in April at the age of 77.

Craker was with Princes William and Harry when they found out their mother, Princess Diana, had passed away, and he was present at her funeral.

In 2017, Craker told The New York Post that he saw Prince William acknowledge him while the Queen Mother’s hearse passed. Craker had been standing at the back of the hearse, and he nodded to the Prince, who seemed reassured that Craker was with his mother during her final journey.

According to NBC News, the settlement involved the company paying a significant amount of money in damages and offering a complete and sincere apology to Prince Harry. They also publicly admitted to the widespread and harmful coverage that invaded both his and Princess Diana’s privacy.

I’m thrilled to share some wonderful news! Princess Catherine announced today that she’s in remission after completing her cancer treatment. It’s such a relief and incredibly inspiring to hear, and I’m sending her and her family all my best wishes as she continues to recover.

She shared on X (formerly Twitter) on January 14th that she’s relieved to be in remission and is continuing to focus on getting better. She also noted that, like anyone facing a cancer diagnosis, it takes time to adapt to life afterward.

She added that she’s optimistic about the year ahead and excited for what’s to come.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is grieving the loss of her rescue beagle, a dog she adopted back in 2015, before she met Prince Harry.

On January 7th, she shared a vulnerable post on Instagram, writing about feeling overwhelmed with tears. She described crying so much that she’d stand in the shower, hoping the water would wash away the pain, even though she knew it wouldn’t. She ended by acknowledging that it was okay to feel those emotions.

Meghan fondly remembered her beloved Guy, saying, “Thank you for always loving me, and for bringing so much joy to my life.”

Meghan Markle, known for her role in the TV show *Suits*, launched a new Instagram account on January 1st. She had previously closed her personal social media accounts right before marrying Prince Harry in 2018.

I was so excited to hear Meghan Markle is launching a new series on Netflix called *With Love, Meghan*! From what I understand, it’s going to be a really fresh take on lifestyle content. Forget stuffy demonstrations – she’s promising a mix of real, helpful tips and genuine chats with both familiar faces and new friends. It sounds like the kind of show you can actually learn from *and* enjoy, which is exactly what I love!
