Prince of Persia fans have reason to be optimistic thanks to a new report from Ubisoft. The series has faced challenges recently. Although Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, released in 2024, received positive reviews, it didn’t sell as well as Ubisoft expected, leading to the disbandment of its development team. To make matters worse, Ubisoft canceled the long-awaited Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake after years of development. Despite these setbacks, a recent report offers a glimmer of hope for the future of the series.
Origami, a French gaming website, reports that the team who created Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has been reunited at Ubisoft. They are currently proposing ideas for their next game. While nothing is confirmed yet, many expect they might work on another Prince of Persia title.
If Ubisoft decides to make another Prince of Persia game, a sequel to The Lost Crown would be the most sensible choice. While the game didn’t achieve the sales Ubisoft hoped for, it’s become highly regarded as one of the best Metroidvania games in recent years. It would be smart to give the same development team another opportunity to reach a wider audience with a similar style of gameplay.

Look, I loved Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, but honestly, the developers might want to switch gears. They could jump to another Ubisoft franchise, or even try something totally new and original! So, I wouldn’t count on a new Prince of Persia game happening for sure – it’s not a given, you know?
I’m really glad to hear Ubisoft is giving this development team another chance – they clearly deserve it! If you haven’t played Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown yet, you absolutely should. It’s fantastic, and I’m hoping their next game is just as good.
