Prince William Makes Rare Comment About Bond With Late Queen Elizabeth

Prince William still has a soft spot for his beloved Granny.

It’s been three years since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, and the 43-year-old has shared that he continues to feel the impact of her loss. He described how challenging it was to come to terms with losing both her and his grandfather, Prince Philip, who passed away in April 2021.

“Yes, I really do miss my grandmother and grandfather,” he shared with Eugene Levy in a sneak peek of the October 3rd episode of the Apple TV+ show The Reluctant Traveler. “Things have changed a lot recently.”

William-next in line to the British throne, currently held by his father King Charles III-said this while showing the Schitt’s Creek star around Windsor Castle. Even though he lives there with his wife Kate Middleton and their children Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, he still feels a strong connection to his grandmother and remembers her fondly there.

He added, “It’s hard to think about them no longer being with us, especially here in Windsor. For me, Windsor always reminds me of her. She truly loved this place-she spent the majority of her time here. Showing you around today is really about trying to present it as she would have wanted you to experience it.”

The Prince of Wales explained what made the royal home so meaningful to the Queen, who is now buried there with her husband of 73 years.

He explained, “She also brought her horses here, which was really important to her. That’s why she enjoyed being here so much.”

William and Eugene, both 78, also talked about the tough time William’s family had last year, with both his father and Kate receiving cancer diagnoses. Although the future king called 2024 “the hardest year I’ve ever had,” he also offered a hopeful outlook on dealing with these difficulties.

William explained, “Life presents challenges to see how we respond, and our ability to deal with those difficulties is what shapes our character.”
