Screaming Villains announced that Prize Fighter: Heavyweight Edition, a remastered boxing game featuring full-motion video, will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC (via Steam) starting February 20th.
Here is an overview of the game, via PlayStation Store:
Originally developed by Digital Pictures, Prize Fighter returns!
With Prize Fighter: Heavyweight Edition, you don’t just watch boxing—you are the boxer. This updated version of the classic game lets you step into the ring and fight the world’s top athletes.
When you raise your fists, you’re ready to throw any punch – a quick jab, a powerful hook, or a rising uppercut! Connect with a hit and see your opponent stumble back.
Getting hit can really disorient you, making your vision blur. You might even get knocked down, forced to listen to the referee and your coach as they check if you can continue. Of course, there’s also the chance you’ll be standing tall, victorious and wearing the heavyweight championship belt!
You’re the headliner, and your team is with you: your trainer, the person who helps between rounds, and someone to carry water. They offer support and advice. The event also includes the referee, ring girls, an announcer, and of course, a crowd – including some loud hecklers – plus four incredibly tough opponents.
Prize Fighter is a dark, intense, and realistic boxing film. The fight scenes were expertly crafted by Ron Stein, the same choreographer who worked on classics like Raging Bull and the Rocky movies. The film uses close-up shots, a first-person perspective, and a shaky camera to make you feel like you’re right in the middle of the action!
We’ve completely redesigned Prize Fighter and now it features stunning 4K video, plus a host of other improvements and exciting new features!
Get ready to compete! Tonight, you’ll face three challenging opponents to earn the right to challenge the champion.
