Subscribers to PlayStation Plus on both the Extra and Premium tiers should be aware that as many as 18 free games might expire in October 2025. Sony has disclosed which games will no longer be available from September 2025, but they have not yet revealed which ones will depart in October. It’s important to note that Sony has not yet confirmed any plans for October, and this remains unchanged until the end of September. In anticipation of this, we’ve speculated about which games could be removed from PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium come Halloween.
Most games added to PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium tend to have contracts lasting 12 or 24 months with Sony. However, there can be exceptions. By looking at what was added a year or two ago on platforms like Reddit, we can predict which games might be leaving the subscription service soon. Currently, there are 18 games that fit this pattern.
18 Games That Could Leave PS Plus Soon
In two months, any of these 18 games could potentially be removed from both PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium, as they were added either in October 2023 or October 2024. Here is the list of those games, although it should be noted that this is just an educated guess:
* Dead Island 2
* Two Point Campus
* The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me
* Gris
* Return to Monkey Island
* Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed
* Firefighting Simulator The Squad
* Overpass 2
* Tour de France 2023
* Ghost Recon: Wildlands (Ubisoft titles typically do not leave)
* The Last Clockwinder
* R Type Dimensions EX
* The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes
* Outlast 2
* Elite Dangerous
* Far: Changing Tides
* Eldest Souls
* Roki
* A Train Express
It’s important to note that this list is only speculative, but it has proven accurate in predicting which games will be leaving PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium every month.
The current offerings on PlayStation Plus aren’t particularly groundbreaking, except maybe for Dead Island 2. Even if all the mentioned games depart from PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium in October, it wouldn’t overshadow the new day-one games the subscription service has recently introduced or the free games scheduled for September. Essentially, PlayStation Plus is currently doing well, as the added games are significantly more significant than the ones leaving.
Losing Horror Games Right Before Halloween
Although none of the 18 PS Plus games might stand out exceptionally on their own, the context is crucial. October, being a month with increased interest in horror genres, makes the potential departure of games like Outlast 2, The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes, and The Devil In Me before Halloween somewhat disheartening. This disappointment isn’t merely due to these being quality horror games, but also because the PS Plus Extra and Premium libraries don’t currently offer many horror titles, particularly good ones.
Speaking from the heart of a gamer, I can’t help but wonder which games on PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium might sadden me if they were to depart. So, feel free to share your thoughts with us! Are there any games that you wouldn’t want to see part ways with?
