We’ll be honest, ever since watching the Xbox Partner Preview, we’ve been wondering if Rebellion’s new first-person shooter, Alien Deathstorm, has connections to Ridley Scott’s film.
That’s not quite right, but it was understandable to think so. The UK studio previously developed the Alien vs Predator game for the Atari Jaguar in 1994, and later revisited the franchise with a 2010 release on the PS3.
We believe some of the quality from their previous games is being put into this brand new first-person shooter, which is scheduled to release in 2027.
It’s rare to see game announcements like this one these days. It’s a refreshing change from the current trend of games that require constant updates or focus on specific characters. This game is simply a thrilling, scary action experience set on a distant colony.
Here’s how the dev describes it:
In Alien Deathstorm, you take on the role of a Combat Engineer – a skilled emergency responder sent to a distant colony that’s gone completely dark. You arrive before any major rescue team, and your mission is to figure out what happened and try to save anyone you can.
The moment you land, you realize the colony is being completely destroyed by the Deathstorm. It’s even worse than you imagined, and the situation is rapidly deteriorating. What started as a rescue mission has quickly turned into a desperate struggle to survive amidst the chaos and the threat of terrifying alien creatures.
You can check out the reveal trailer above, which is generic in a refreshing kinda way.
Hey, has anyone else heard about this? Just to be clear, I’m not talking about that movie series – I want to discuss the actual thing itself! Let’s keep the conversation focused, okay?
