PS5 Game Now 100% Free on the PlayStation Store

I was so excited to find out that a PS5 game from 2024 is now completely free on the PlayStation Store! It used to cost money, but it looks like this is a permanent thing, which is awesome. Sadly, if you’re still on PS4, you’re out of luck – there’s no version for the older console. And just a heads up for anyone with a PS5 Pro, it doesn’t seem like this online first-person shooter has any special features designed for the new hardware.

In 2024, Double Eleven launched an online first-person shooter called Blindfire, and while it was initially well-received, it didn’t gain much traction in the crowded online FPS market. Because of this, Double Eleven is discontinuing support for the game, but they’re handling it in a unique way compared to other publishers.

A Free Gift for PS5 Users

Double Eleven, the team behind the first-person shooter Blindfire, has announced they won’t be shutting the game down. They’ve released a final update and promised to keep the servers running forever, saying they’re proud of the game and don’t want to abandon it. They believe games should be treated as art and deserve to be maintained, even if they didn’t achieve the success they hoped for. This isn’t a relaunch with advertising; it’s simply a way for those interested to experience what the team built, as a gift from the developers.

Now that Blindfire is free to play, is it worth trying? It currently has a 3.48 out of 5-star rating on the PlayStation Store (which translates to a 70/100 score) – similar scores are found on Steam and Xbox. However, most of those reviews are from when the game cost money and before its recent major update. This means the score could improve as more people try the updated version. Because it’s free, now is the best time to give Blindfire a try, as the influx of new players should create a lively community – something that likely won’t last forever.
