You might remember hearing about MIO: Memories in Orbit, a fast-paced action platformer in the style of Metroidvania games that was revealed earlier this year.
Focus Entertainment announced that their game will be available on PlayStation 5 on January 20th, 2026.
You play as MIO, a small robot who’s forgotten everything. Your mission is to explore a huge, confusing spaceship and uncover its secrets.
As a fan, it seems like this game has everything I love about Metroidvanias – lots of action-packed combat, cool platforming, and a big world to explore piece by piece. It looks like you really need to check every nook and cranny of the map!

This game stands out with its unique sci-fi style, offering a fresh take compared to other titles. However, it’s now competing with Hollow Knight: Silksong, a long-awaited game that’s already generating a lot of excitement for 2025.
It remains to be seen if MIO will capture the interest of players who enjoy this type of game, or if interest has decreased since the release of Silksong.
The game looks promising, but we need to actually play it to get a real feel for it. If it’s fun to play and has a captivating story, it could be a big hit.
