Sony is raising the price of the PS5 today, and some stores in the UK have already updated their prices to reflect the increase.
So, I’ve been checking around online for PS5 deals, and it looks like GAME and Argos are the first stores I’ve seen actually raising their prices on the console. It’s a bit annoying, but at least I know where not to look right now!
You can now buy a standard PlayStation 5 with a disc drive for £569.99, and the PS Portal handheld is available for £219.99.
So, I’ve been checking Argos, and it looks like only the PS Portal has gotten more expensive at the moment. Thankfully, the PS5 itself is still the same price – which is great news for those of us hoping to snag one!
As a reminder, here are the PS5 price increases that come into effect today:
- PS5: $549.99/£479.99 > $649.99/£569.99
- PS5 Digital Edition: $499.99/£429.99 > $599.99/£519.99
- PS5 Pro: $749.99/£699.99 > $899.99/£789.99
Sony has raised the price of the PS5 several times since its release, but this recent increase is the most significant yet. Many customers are quickly buying a PS5 Pro now to avoid the higher price, as it’s unusual for console prices to go up as they age – they typically become cheaper over time.
Hey, just a heads-up! I sometimes link to stuff I recommend, and if you happen to click those links and buy something, I might get a tiny kickback – it helps me keep the site running. You can find all the details about that in my FTC Disclosure if you’re curious.
