Owners of the PS5 Pro are amazed by a new feature only available on the upgraded console. Sony recently launched a major update – arguably the biggest since the console first came out – that includes a significantly improved version of a technology called PSSR (or PlayStation System Scaler Resolution). PSSR uses artificial intelligence to automatically enhance the visual quality of supported games, taking lower resolution images and making them look sharper and more detailed. While not many games currently utilize this feature, those that do see a dramatic visual improvement. It’s important to note that the standard PS5 and Xbox Series X do not have this technology.
Since the recent update, the PlayStation 5 Pro subreddit has been full of excited posts about a new feature and how much it improves supported games. One popular post expressed complete amazement, with the user saying they were constantly surprised and impressed.
“PSSR 2.0 Is a Game Changer”
Okay, seriously, PSSR 2.0 is incredible. It’s been out for a few days now, and I’m still blown away. I’ve been testing it with all my games that work with PSSR, and I’ve literally had to pick my jaw up off the floor multiple times. It’s a total game changer!
Ever since that update, the PS5 Pro Reddit page has been flooded with posts, but surprisingly, it’s the most optimistic the community has been since the console first came out.

The biggest uncertainty is whether many games will actually take advantage of this new feature. Currently, most PS5 games don’t have enhancements for the PS5 Pro, and even fewer support the advanced PSSR 2.0 technology. Sony has released three games this year, but only one includes PS5 Pro improvements. This lack of support, even from its own major releases, is currently hindering the PS5 Pro. The technology exists, but it’s not being fully utilized – a problem we also saw with the original PS4 Pro.
