Following price increases in other parts of the world, Sony has announced new prices for the PS5, PS5 Pro, and PS Portal in Southeast Asia. These new prices, listed below, will take effect from May 1st.

Here’s how much the PlayStation 5 costs in a few Southeast Asian countries: In Singapore, the standard PS5 is SGD 849, the Digital Edition is SGD 764, and the PS5 Pro is SGD 1,167. In Malaysia, the standard PS5 costs MYR 2,799, the Digital Edition is MYR 2,499, and the PS5 Pro is MYR 3,999. Finally, in Thailand, the standard PS5 is THB 20,990, the Digital Edition is THB 18,790, and the PS5 Pro is THB 30,990.

The price of the PlayStation 5 is increasing in several Southeast Asian countries. In Indonesia, the standard PS5 will cost IDR 11,399,000, while the Digital Edition will be IDR 9,999,000. In the Philippines, the PS5 will cost PHP 40,032, and in Vietnam, it will be VND 16,900,000. Notably, the new PS5 Pro won’t be sold in any of these countries. Additionally, the Philippines and Vietnam won’t have access to the Digital Edition or the PS Portal handheld.

The PS Portal will cost SGD 347 in Singapore, MYR 1,099 in Malaysia, TBH 8,380 in Thailand, and IDR 5,199,000 in Indonesia.

Sony explained the price increase is due to current global economic challenges. They stated the decision wasn’t made lightly, and they believe it’s a required adjustment.

Due to ongoing economic challenges around the world, we are raising the prices of the PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal. We understand price increases are never welcome, but this change is needed to allow us to keep creating amazing and high-quality games for players everywhere, according to a recent announcement.

After factoring in exchange rates and local taxes, PlayStation 5 prices in Southeast Asia are now similar to the price increases Sony previously announced for the US, UK, Europe, and Japan. As of April 2nd, the PS5 Pro costs $899.99 in the US, £789.99 in the UK, €899.99 in Europe, and ¥137,980 in Japan, depending on the location.

PlayStation consoles had their best sales week of the year in the US, coinciding with a recent price increase. Analyst Mat Piscatella from Circana noted a surge in purchases as consumers rushed to buy before the higher prices took effect. Sales figures for the week ending April 4th were the highest they’ve been since 2026, and overall spending on gaming hardware nearly doubled compared to the same week last year.

Experts suggest the recent price increases for the PS5 could foreshadow even pricier consoles in the future. Some predict the PS6 might cost 50% more at launch than the original PS5 did in 2020.
