A role-playing game originally made for the PSP is getting a remake in 2026 and, unlike the first game, it will be available on multiple platforms. Players will be able to enjoy it on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Unfortunately, it won’t be released on Xbox consoles or the PlayStation 4. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced, the remake is expected to launch sometime in Fall 2026.
Falcom has officially announced a remake of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC, called Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter. This is a sequel to Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, which itself was a remake of the original The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. For those who don’t know it, Trails in the Sky SC is the second game in the Trails series and part of The Legend of Heroes series. It first came out in Japan in 2006, but wasn’t released in the West until 2015. It was also later made available on PS3, PS Vita, and mobile, but only in Japan.
About the Remake
This remake has been completely updated, with improvements to both the visuals and how the game plays. But it’s more than just a refresh – the re-release also features a lot of new content, including extra side quests, minigames, and some beloved characters you can now play as.
Following the events that saved the Kingdom of Liberl from a coup, Estelle and Joshua have become accomplished bracers. But just before the Queen’s Birthday Festival, Joshua reveals a hidden truth about his past and mysteriously disappears, leaving Estelle with a simple goodbye. Determined to find him, Estelle sets off on a journey across the continent, carrying only Joshua’s harmonica. She soon discovers a dangerous organization called Ouroboros is rising from the shadows, threatening to throw Liberl into chaos. With the capital city burning and a massive airship appearing in the sky, a great danger looms. Estelle and her friends must fight to uncover Ouroboros’s secrets, find Joshua, and save Liberl from the biggest crisis in its history!
The original game was generally liked, receiving a score of 80 on Metacritic. The remake of the first game did even better, scoring an 88 earlier this year. This sets a reasonable expectation that this new remake will also score in the low 80s and be a worthwhile update.
