PSVR2 Takes Another Hit as Sony Nukes Exclusive Shooter Firewall Ultra

Remember Firewall Ultra? Sony has unexpectedly decided to discontinue it.

The game is no longer available on the PlayStation Store. It was removed from Sony’s online store without any prior announcement.

Also, an update about the game’s online services was quietly posted on an older PlayStation blog. It confirms the game will be removed from digital stores, and its online features will be shut down soon.

The online services for Firewall Ultra will shut down on September 17, 2026, making the game unplayable. Because the game requires an internet connection to play, it will no longer function after 10:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) on that date.

If you already have the game, you’ll be able to play it for around six more months before it’s permanently removed from access.

Sony published the tactical shooter as a PSVR2 exclusive back in 2023.

Firewall Ultra, created by First Contact Entertainment (the studio has since closed), was a sequel to the popular Firewall Zero Hour.

The sequel wasn’t as successful as the original game, and even though the developers planned to add content and updates over time, it didn’t earn enough money to fully realize their plans.

It’s likely the game is being removed because it’s not selling well and doesn’t have many players.

It’s still sad whenever a game disappears, even if it wasn’t a popular one.
