Master Chief, the iconic hero of the Halo series, might be coming to PlayStation 5 before the next installment in Sony’s own first-person shooter franchise, Killzone, leaving some PlayStation fans surprised. Magazines once predicted Halo would be a major competitor to Killzone, but now it appears the roles could be reversed.
Following the news this weekend that Halo: Combat Evolved is coming to PlayStation, a popular post from our friend, Real Radec – who’s a big fan of the Killzone 2 villain – focused on the future of Guerrilla’s currently paused game series.
I couldn’t believe it when I saw the news – Halo is actually coming to PlayStation 5! It feels so weird, especially considering we still haven’t gotten a proper release of the original Killzone trilogy. Honestly, it felt like a slap in the face, so I just reacted with a GIF of one of the bad guys… well, you can guess what he was doing to himself.
As of right now, the post has received over 57,000 likes, almost as many as the 59,000 likes PlayStation’s tweet announcing Halo on PS5 got.
Okay, so technically the Killzone spin-off, Liberation, did come to PS5 through PS Plus Premium a while back. But honestly, it’s a bummer that we still can’t play the original three Killzone games directly on the PS5. I was really hoping they’d get a native release!
Does it seem strange that Halo is coming to PlayStation 5 before Killzone? At the start of this console generation, would you have expected that? Let’s remember the Killzone series – share your thoughts in the comments!
