I’ve been waiting so long for this! Finally, Silo is back on July 3rd! And it’s not just a new season, they’ve already greenlit Season 3! They just dropped the official trailer for the upcoming season, and it’s hinting that we’re going to find out how everything started – the trailer’s tagline is literally, “The end of the world had a beginning.” I’m so excited to see what happened before!
What Happens in Silo Season 3?
Apple TV+ has become a hub for popular science fiction series, including shows like For All Mankind, its spin-off Star City, Foundation, and Pluribus. But since debuting in 2023, Silo has quickly become one of its most highly-regarded shows.
This series takes place in a bleak future where the last of humanity lives in a massive, 144-level underground silo. It explores how this community rebuilt society, showing both its triumphs and its flaws.
The new trailer shows that Rebecca Ferguson’s character, Juliette Nichols, was trapped in a burning container for three minutes after the last episode of season two, causing her to forget everything.
Juliet’s voiceover reveals her sense of disconnect, saying she doesn’t recognize the person she sees in the mirror.
The latest trailer for Silo reveals threats beyond Juliette’s memory loss, hinting that time is running out for the characters and that dangerous secrets lie outside the silo. Season 3 will also explore the events leading up to the apocalypse, a mystery that was first hinted at in the initial trailer.
Season 3 jumps between two time periods. In the present day, Juliette Nichols, having survived a traumatic experience, returns to the silo with amnesia as the community rebuilds and confronts a new danger. Simultaneously, in the past – known as the “Before Times” – journalist Helen Drew and Congressman Daniel Keene stumble upon a secret plot that leads to devastating and permanent repercussions.
The latest preview suggests the show has addressed a major concern: its overly gloomy atmosphere. Creator Graham Yost had previously admitted the show was “too dark” and even advised viewers to adjust their screen brightness. Now, it appears the team listened to that feedback. Season 2’s cinematographer, Baz Irvine, had to leave the project for health reasons, and a new cinematographer will be handling the visuals for Seasons 3 and 4.
Silo Will End With Season 4
Fans have been waiting two years for the return of Silo, and it’s finally coming back this summer! Even better, Apple TV has already renewed the show for a fourth season, which will conclude the story. Based on the novels by Hugh Howey, Silo was brought to the screen by Graham Yost after previous efforts to make it into a film didn’t succeed.
Good news for fans – the gap between seasons 3 and 4 should be much shorter than previous waits. The actors filmed both the third and fourth seasons at the same time, and the final season is currently being edited. We can expect it to arrive sometime next year.
