Despite selling over seven million copies globally and being the top-selling game in the USA for 2025, Electronic Arts (EA) has announced staff reductions following the success of Battlefield 6.
IGN reports that Electronic Arts (EA) has laid off an unknown number of employees at its Battlefield Studios – including teams at EA DICE, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and Motive Studio – as part of a company restructuring.
We’ve learned that all four company locations are still running, but the recent layoffs have impacted several teams and offices.
Last year’s Battlefield 6 was a major win for EA, becoming the best-selling game in the series’ history with seven million copies sold in just three days and earning the title of best-selling game in the USA for the year. However, despite this success, some layoffs are happening at Battlefield Studios as they continue to develop and release additional content, including a second season of free updates.
Battlefield 6 initially received a good reception, but things have gone downhill in recent months. Updates have been pushed back, players have criticised how the game tries to make money, and it’s been discovered that some in-game items were created using AI.
