In an unexpected twist, Take-Two Interactive failed to unveil a new sales achievement for Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 during their Q1 fiscal year 2026 financial report, which spanned up until June 30th. Instead, it was revealed that the game’s sales have remained steady at over 215 million units sold.
Red Dead Redemption 2, on the other hand, is a different story that has surpassed sales of 77 million units compared to the 74 million+ reported in the previous quarter. The series’ sales have now exceeded 104 million, with an estimated additional million units likely sold from the re-release of Red Dead Redemption on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC.
It’s been speculated that Rockstar Games may be planning to release Red Dead Redemption 2 on the Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in late Summer or early Fall, as they are currently working on Grand Theft Auto 6. Last June, Rob Wiethoff, the voice actor for John Marston, hinted at some significant news, but later apologized for any confusion he may have caused. Keep an eye out for further developments.
