A fresh gaming studio, RedOctane Games, which comprises experienced professionals from the rhythm game industry, has officially been launched. Their primary objective is to push the boundaries of the rhythm game genre, seamlessly blending the past with future innovations. As of now, they are working on their inaugural rhythm game, details of which will be revealed towards the end of 2025.
Simon Ebejer serves as the leader of the studio, having previously held positions such as production director for various Guitar Hero games at Neversoft, studio head at Vicarious Visions, and vice president of operations at Blizzard Entertainment.
The RedOctane Games team is comprised of innovators and designers who played crucial roles in both the conception and expansion of the popular games, Guitar Hero and DJ Hero. Additionally, they boast up-and-coming developers and influential figures within the broader rhythm gaming community.
Furthermore, Charles and Kai Huang, the initial creators of the Guitar Hero series from 2005, have agreed to be part of an advisory team at RedOctane Games. This move will provide the studio with valuable expertise and understanding that will guide its future course.
According to Simon Ebejer, head of studio at RedOctane Games, rhythm games aren’t merely about gameplay; they’re about capturing the essence, the movement, and the bond with the music and each other. In creating RedOctane Games, we aim to express our gratitude for this genre that holds such significance for us, while simultaneously innovating and taking it to new heights.
