Reforged Studios has bought Headup, a German game publisher, the two companies said. The details of the deal weren’t revealed.
So, I’m excited to hear that Headup’s whole library of games is now part of something bigger! That means I’ll be able to play titles like Bridge Constructor, Pumpkin Jack, and even Super Meat Boy 3D – and hopefully, even more of their upcoming stuff. Pretty cool, right?
Following the acquisition by Reforged Studios, Headup’s team will stay the same, with no one losing their job. Headup will continue to publish and support indie games, now with the added resources and knowledge of Reforged. Dieter Schoeller, Headup’s CEO, will become Reforged Studios’ chief publishing officer, overseeing publishing across the entire group.
Reforged Studios is excited to integrate Headup, a publisher known for its high-quality and thoughtfully selected game portfolio. According to Reforged Studios CEO Peter van der Watt, Headup has earned a strong reputation by consistently supporting developers and maintaining a clear vision for the games they publish. This addition will significantly enhance Reforged’s publishing capabilities and help the company grow faster.
He explained that this purchase isn’t simply about becoming bigger. It’s about creating a stable and supportive environment where talented independent creators can thrive.
Headup’s founder, Dieter Schoeller, explained that their focus wasn’t on rapid growth, but on hiring the right team. He said Reforged was created by people who truly love games, and that shared passion will help Headup maintain its unique identity as it expands.
