Remake of One of the Best Cult Horrors of the 1970s Will Be Sam Raimi’s Next Horror

Sam Raimi is a hugely influential horror director, so any news about his work always gets fans excited. Now, horror lovers have something to look forward to: Raimi is involved with a remake of a beloved film from the 1970s. Known for directing scary hits like The Evil Dead and Drag Me to Hell, and for producing other genre staples such as The Grudge, it’s no surprise people are eagerly awaiting details about this new project.

Sam Raimi, previously announced as a producer for the film Magic, will now also direct. Magic is based on William Goldman’s novel and tells the story of Corky, a magician who turns to ventriloquism. The original 1978 film starred Anthony Hopkins, who gave a memorable performance as Corky, a magician whose puppet seems to take control of his life, especially when he tries to reconnect with a former love. Magic received positive reviews, earning an 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

This Genius of Horror is So Back

I was completely blown away by Sam Raimi’s latest film, Stranded! It’s a really intense survival-horror movie starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien as coworkers who are the sole survivors of a plane crash, finding themselves stuck on a deserted island. What I loved most was seeing how they had to put aside their differences and learn to rely on each other to make it through. It’s fantastic, and I’m so excited to hear that Zainab Azizi, who also produced Stranded with Raimi, is teaming up with him again for a new project called Magic!

Adam Fogelson, head of Lionsgate’s film division, told Deadline that Sam Raimi is the perfect director for this project, calling it a fantastic pairing of director and story. He praised the script and expressed excitement about Raimi’s creative vision. Roy Lee, the producer behind hits like It and Weapons, is also producing Magic, promising a revival packed with horror expertise that is sure to impress fans.
