The science fiction-inspired action platformer game, previously named REPLACED, is set to debut on Xbox Series and PC platforms including Steam and Epic Games Store in spring 2026. Originally scheduled for release in 2025, the launch has been pushed back a year. Publisher Thunderful Games and developer Sad Cat Studios have shared this update, and it appears that an Xbox One version of the game will not be developed anymore.
In the latest development update, Sad Cat Studios unveiled the anticipated release timeline for their game while discussing its progress and offering glimpses into the game’s transformation throughout the years by presenting exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.
In a recent press statement, game director Yura Zhdanovich acknowledged the eagerness of our community to play the upcoming game, REPLACED. He admitted that it’s taken longer than anticipated to deliver the game, for which he expressed regret. However, he emphasized that their primary aim has been to ensure the project is handled appropriately, resulting in an exceptional gaming experience for you all. The positive news is that they are now nearing completion of production, and REPLACED is set to release on PC and Xbox Series X|S in spring 2026.

In an alternative 1980s version of America, the game titled “REPLACED” unfolds. It offers dynamic action combat and a rich, dark narrative set in Phoenix-City. You assume the role of R.E.A.C.H., an AI forced into a human body, grappling with human existence. In this world, lawlessness is rampant due to the long-term effects of a disastrous nuclear explosion. Society is marred by corruption and greed, where those in power treat humans and their organs as mere commodities.
The game centers around a solitary player’s journey, blending cinematic platforming with pixel art and free-flow action combat.
