Resident Evil 5 Remake Won’t Be Announced in 2026, Insider Reaffirms Code: Veronica Remake Reveal

With excitement already building for the upcoming Resident Evil: Requiem next month, rumors of another Resident Evil remake are circulating. However, following a suggestive tweet from actress Eva La Dare (known for playing Sheva Alomar), reliable insider Dusk Golem has confirmed this new remake won’t be Resident Evil 5.

According to a recent tweet, a Resident Evil 5 Remake won’t be announced this year. Instead, the remake that will be revealed is of Code Veronica. The tweeter also hinted that La Dare is working on a separate, unannounced project.

Talk about remakes of the games Code: Veronica and Resident Evil Zero started circulating in May 2024. This same source previously predicted an announcement this year – just last month, they claimed a 2027 release date. Reports also suggest Claire Redfield will be the main character, but Chris Redfield will still play a significant role in the story.

It’s unclear exactly when Capcom will make the announcement, but they’re planning new Resident Evil games for the first half of the year. We might hear more at the Summer Game Fest Showcase, and the games could potentially release in early 2027.

I’m so hyped for Resident Evil Requiem! It’s coming out on February 27th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and even the new Nintendo Switch 2! I’m really excited about Leon’s more intense fighting style and the fact they’re bringing back Ink Ribbons in the classic mode. The director, Koshi Nakanishi, says we have even more to look forward to, which is awesome. But don’t hold your breath for a demo, apparently.
