The latest addition to the Resident Evil series, titled “Resident Evil Requiem,” was announced earlier this year. A detailed look at this upcoming game will be unveiled in August during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event. At present, official information about the next Resident Evil game is scarce, but leaks have begun to surface, potentially providing hints about alterations in combat and the future of a recurring character in the series.
I was taken aback when I first saw the reveal trailer for Resident Evil: Requiem and noticed the absence of my beloved character, Leon. To my surprise, it seems FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft is set to be the game’s protagonist instead. While Leon has graced numerous Resident Evil games, the fact that Requiem takes place in Raccoon City makes his appearance seem inevitable. Yet, Capcom has kept mum on whether or not we can expect Leon to appear in Resident Evil 9 at this point.
So far in various Resident Evil leaks, Leon has played a significant role, sparking intense curiosity among fans as they anticipate his outcome. Recently, a trusted source for Resident Evil leaks, Dusk Golem, hints at potentially disappointing news for those rooting for Leon.
Resident Evil Requiem May Be Leon’s Last Appearance
It appears that the leaker known as Dusk Golem has been providing a lot of information about the upcoming Resident Evil game. Recently, they disclosed some details regarding the character Leon S. Kennedy’s role in the game. According to Dusk Golem, Leon is expected to make a comeback as a playable character, joining the main protagonist, Grace Ashcroft. Additionally, it seems there may be modifications to Leon’s fighting style compared to previous games.
Despite the numerous leaks about the game, an important point often overlooked is that it could very well conclude the story of Raccoon City. Specifically, Dusk Golem hints that “Resident Evil Requiem” will mark Leon’s final significant role in the timeline.
The Dusk Golem, in the Resident Evil saga, marks Leon S. Kennedy’s final significant appearance; The media blackout ends on August 20th; The game will be unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show; Both Leon and Grace play crucial roles, as hinted by /r/GamingLeaksAndRumours.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but feel that the upcoming title, Requiem, seems to tie up much of Leon S. Kennedy’s tale – at least, for now. To clarify, ‘his last major role’ doesn’t foreclose the possibility of him appearing in future Resident Evil games. However, it does hint that the series might be exploring other central characters instead of sticking with Leon. The introduction of Grace Ashcroft in this game could indicate that she’s slated to become a regular protagonist moving forward. Alternatively, leaving Raccoon City behind might herald an entirely new narrative direction for the franchise.
As a die-hard Resident Evil fan, I’m excitedly anticipating that Leon could be a significant figure in Resident Evil 9. Rumors suggest his role might be his last, although it’s crucial to note that Capcom hasn’t officially confirmed this yet. We’ll hopefully learn more about his part in the game when the Gamescom trailer drops on August 19th. Until then, these leaks should be viewed as speculation, given the nature of unofficial information in the gaming world. Regardless, Dusk Golem has a good reputation with the franchise, but there’s always a chance that such intel could be incorrect.
The highly anticipated ninth main installment of the Resident Evil series, titled “Resident Evil Requiem,” will be available to play on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S starting February 27th, 2026.
